well I am jamaican and I strongly suggest that you dont do it for 1. you will be out of your element and outnumbered 2. Why would u want to live with his moms u will be misreble. 3. its a nice place to visit but I would never move back there. I just visited jamaica this summer, and I saw 3 dead bodies in 3 days a cab driver, a boy that couldnt be more than 12 years old and a cop. My girlfriend wouldnt go out after dark after seeing that, didnt stop me tho.jamaica is a very dangerous place. and other than that what would u do for wor? jobs are hard to find and pay below minimum wage. dont do it, whats wrong with were u at now?

Instead of asking you to go to Jamaica and live with him and his mother, why doesn't he ask your hand in marriage and cut a long story short (you've been together for over 5 years)? I believe that this is the right thing to do.

Smudgeward
Hey if you don't go I will!

Disney Ang
If you love him and you want to, you should go!

you have to decide what is best for you and also the relationship it is worth a try if it doesnt work out you always have other options.

why can't he come here?

klaselva
Hell no! Bad idea.

depends on your priorities. if moving to jamaica doesn't get in the way of you & your family duties or work... then consider it. But also consider that you will be in a different country living with his Mom and away from all your family and friends. Just way out the pros and cons because ultimately the decision its up to you.

p.s.- kinda depends what jamaica is like too but I don't know anything about it

You must be crazy to even consider doing this. All I can say is, make sure you always have enough money socked away to get back home on. You would probably end up being his mothers slave girl, think about it.

As a Caribbean woman, I can tell you that the men from there are SPOILED! Most of them anyway...I am sure you may have realised this to some degree! Then there is the small problem that Caribbean women treat their sons like gods, so you are gonna have to be careful there...while you may have stayed with them in the short term and everything was cool, who knows what it will be like in the long term. Then there is the issue of getting a job there. The Jamaican currency is very low, and jobs there are not going to pay anything near to what you would make in the US, or even the Bahamas! Similarly, the jobs there are more limited! It depends naturally on what your field is...if it is business or economics it wont be too hard to get a job, but fields like art or anything too creative may be really difficult to get into. Then of course, as with most islands, is the issue of crime. The crimes in the Caribbean are getting more violent and more widespread. I hate to discourage you, but I would not move there in a hurry...as a few other ppl suggested, why dont you suggest living in the US or maybe somewhere else. I know with immigration laws it may be harder for him to stay in the US than it would be for you to move to Jamaica...at the end of it all though sweetie, you have to go with your heart. But dont forget all of the factors you need to consider first, because you want to be able to go there and be independent to an extent, at least to have your space...good luck!!
