ask ur mom if she is ashamed of her culture and why. although there is crime in Jamaica and poverty is not like as u step off the plane we going to shoot u and rob u. Most of the time why Jamaica get bad talk is because people stereotype us as rastas who do nothing all day but smoke weed and live in tree huts while killing each other. Before unnu come diss we why not come here and see for urself wat jamrock is all about.

Hello, Jamaica is not worse than any other country, there are good and bad people every where, and lots of security guards and police so no need to worry, in America there are country areas too where people are afraid of going, so please its a nice place, the beach is great in Montego, you can go to either Aqua Sol or doctors cave beach, and also in Negril there is a fun water park, really great, lots of other beaches are there. In Montego Bay you have Coral Cliff which is a gaming lounge for both kids and adults, boat rides, dunns river fall. You just have to be careful just like any other country. Have fun!!!!

A lot of Jamaicans who have lived in Britian have rejected Jamaica as the place of thier birth. Too Bad. My feelings though a bit harsh is Jamaica can do without these people as they would have nothing to contribute to the country. A great number of people who left in the 50s have nothing to return to and can only remember the poverty they left behind. Too sad as these people are like refugees Very Displaced

If you insist take her to an all inclusive in Negril and do not leave the property

Culture. Mothers love rediscovering culture. Also, tell her she needs a vacation, and Jamaica is a safe, fun, beautiful place to go. If all else fails, tell her you're both going to Florida, but get tickets on a plane going to Jamaica. Tell her that it was a last-minute mixup of gates. =)

Sorry that was really rubbish. I always thought places like Jamaica were fine as long as you didn't really venture out of the hotel complexes during the evening. You can get some really nice all inclusive packages in Jamaica so you probably wouldn't need to anyway. I'm sure the hotels all have security too.

Jamaica's somewhere I've always wanted to go to as well, hope you get there.

The little nagatives you hear of Jamaica are confined to special areas. Generally, life is good here.

I am from Montego Bay and I went down to westmoreland (my birth parish) for the weekend. I was totally refreshed.
I had some of the best traditional Jamican food from my Aunt Verna.

Your mom should already know a few of this, so remind her the scintillating beaches, the magnificent historical sites, the watersports activites, rafting on the rivers, the beauiful flora and fauna at the botanical gardens, to name a few.

I've heard there are two Jamacias. Tourists Jamaca and street Jamaca. Tourist Jamacas are well guarded. Steet Jamaca is a pretty sad situation.

Too bad, it's a beautiful country with beautiful language and culture and beautiful people. Poverty is the problem there I believe.

My dad and nan are exactly the same - even though my nan was born there, she thinks it's too dangerous these days. I visited Kingston a couple of years ago with a friend for Caribbean Fashion Week and we had no trouble, there was lots of security.. maybe you could suggest visiting when there is a specific event going on like that.

i go every year and i'm from america. just as long as you're in a resort setting she will be completely safe from outsiders. most resorts now have wristbands to identify whom is allow in the resort. and the staff is easily identified. so tell her to go and enjoy.
