You are part of where you was born at or raise at. Just because your parents were born in Puerto Rico you are not a Puerto Rican. Other people think different but they are not right.

From my point of view- you are counted as Puerto Rican. If your parents were born and raised in Puerto Rico, or even if they were raised somewhere else, but still with the knowledge of Puerto Rico, you are considered Puerto Rican. Take for example, Jennifer Lopez. Her parents are 100% Puerto Rican, and JLo was born and raised in New York. She is still considered Puerto Rican, because she says that she is, and she feels pride in it.

Most importantly, to say that you really are Puerto Rican, you answer it yourself. If you feel like you are Puerto Rican, then you are. If you don't, you're not, even though you know that you are.

Puerto Rican is not a race but a culture. Our roots come from Europe(not only Spain), Africa, Taino, and some Middle Eastern.

We always call somebody born and raised in Puerto Rico a Puerto Rican, and those born or raised in the states Newyorican. I was born in NYC, but grew up in Puerto Rico, from the age of 1, to the age of 26. What am I? I would like to think that I am Puerto Rican. I speak the English language with a heavy accent.

Do you feel you are Puerto Rican? Then you must be Puerto Rican.

You are Puerto Rican by descent.
In fact, if you look back into your heritage on both parents side of the family you may learn that your descendants are Spaniards, European or some other nationality.

I have friends whose Grandparents were born in Ireland, Parents born in the US, and They were born in the US, and still consider themselves Irish...

You are of Puerto Rican descent, therefore, you are Puerto Rican...

yes. you are puerto rican american citizen, because all puerto ricans count as amerian citizens and your backgroung is from puerto rico. just like me, my parents were both born in puerto rico and I was born in new york, but im still proud to have a nice historical boricua background. if I choose to be reborn again I would be proud if who I am still being who I am now.
