Francesca seems like you've been burn by a Jamaican but its not nice you putting all Jamaicans in the same shoe.

Back to the question at hand , what was the question? One thing I can tell you don't uproot your live to please no man and I mean man on a whole not just Jamaican

I don't know how old you are, or your personal circumstances, but why don't you give it a try? Go for six months see how it works out. It's a whole new life and it maybe that it's your future. It may also be a disaster but if you don't go, one day when you're old and grey you'll ask 'what if'.

First you should post your question when you just met him,you are in it for quite a while know, love is growing so let it grows without no stumbling block, be true to him and you will get the same result, most Jamaican are very picky also they are extremist,so don't just use him for sex it will fade away, good luck in all your undertakings.

I think you can get a 3-6 month tourist visa quite easily (but he wouldn't be able to work). Work visas are slightly harder to get. You could use the time to enjoy eachothers company, and see whether the holiday-romance could continue into a steady relationship.

I say go for it. Otherwise you'll always regret not giving it a chance. This link here is a starting point for visa enquiries

What do you have to lose except a chance at love

Don’t know what you look like... don’t know how naive you are... and most important thing don’t know how much you know about Jamaica culture....but be careful.. most Jamaicans see foreign as their only hope out of the country.... and think that abroad there are trees that you can pick money from They can lie and look at you straight in the eyes and think is cool to do so. Most times (and by that I mean from 90 to 99% of the times) all they see in you is an ATM machine and you are just one of the many they use. I know when you are in love you don’t think these things are possible but after almost living in Jamaica for like 15 years... I am sure I have more experience then you do on this topic.... Tell him you are really poor no matter what your real situation is.... don’t bring him presents.... (Did he ask you for a phone so he can keep in contact with you?) If he dint bother to come probably is because he has a woman there (they firmly believe in "polygamy") Where is he from? Have you been to his house? Probably you met in a tourist environment (if he's a hotel worker then forget it… that’s how they make a living).... and that's the worst type of Jamaicans....Don’t get me wrong... most of my friends are Jamaicans.... but taking them seriously in "love affairs"... that's something else Our cultures are way to different to even consider it.... a man that is supported by a woman here is a looser... there is almost a hero.... its most guys dream (do you know what a "rent a dread" is?)
Before making any step... make sure you can trust him... and by that I don’t mean "ask your heart".... I mean rationally. Spend time with him in Jamaica first...meet his friends.... watch him move in his own environment then make your decision
