Ochos Rio or Negril?

I've been to Ochos Rio and it was fantastic..................... plenty to do, a bus between the two resorts all day long, great scenery and plenty of good food!

Depending on how long you be there...why not stay a few nights is each location? If that is not a possibility...then stay in Negril. Don't limit yourself to staying in the resort. Also don't listen to those who say Jamaicans are rude....they aren't rude if YOU are nice to them! Nothing worse that some stuck up foreigners who expect everyone to cater to them. I'm glad they got a fish in the bag! Ha! Ha! The land and people have much to offer so venture out and meet some Jamaicans and experience the culture and the beauty. Have a great time.

I have been on a cruise to Ochos Rio. Dunn Rivers Falls is nice. It is a beautiful island, but I would make sure I stayed on the resort.

I have been to Ocho Rios at a stop on a cruise. It is a fantastic place. As it was a cruise, we only got to stop there for a day, but I can still tell you what is there. The best thing to do in Ocho Rios is climb Dunn's River Falls. It is not very difficult as the falls are not huge and you climb in groups for safety. I would choose Ocho Rios over Negril for that alone. If you do decide Negril, take a day trip to Ocho Rios and climb the falls, you won't regret it. If they hound you to buy a video, don't buy it, it's mostly advertising and little footage of your climb.

My brother stayed at Sandals Ocho Rios for his honeymoon for a week and was very happy with his decision over Negril. Since you are looking at an all inclusive resort you have to determine which resort has more things that interest you. I would imagine that they offer the same, and probably bus you to the other if you want. If that is true then do Ocho Rios!

Both are nice, but different.. Depends on what you are looking for from vacation.. there are plenty of trips you CAN do off the resort.. Ochos Rios, has Dunns River falls, the Ruins, etc. Ochos Rios beaches are more cove like, not long stretches. Ochos Rios is also host to the cruise ships, so make sure to go to Dunns River Falls on a day when they are not in, as it can get too crowded.
Negril is my favorite, as I love to walk and explore. Negril has long stretches of beach to walk with all the hotels and clubs on that stretch. Negril is only about an hour from 2 waterfalls (Mayfield falls and YS falls) Black River tour, Appleton rum factory, bamboo alley, and Roaring River.
Both Negril and Ochos have great places to eat and good nightlife.

They are both nice with gorgeous beaches. They both have fun nightlife too. Ocho Rios has Dunn Diver Falls. Negril has Booby Cay. You will like either one you choose.

The good part of an all inclusive is you know the price of the trip up front. The bad part is, you don't get to mingle with the people and actually see the country. After a couple days, the food all starts tasting the same at an all inclusive. Negril is better if you want to party 24/7. Ochi is better if you just want to relax.

You best be thinking about negril. The beach is gorgeous and crystal clear and that place never sleeps unlike ocho rios that is way too small and everything locks down at like 9pm. the beaches are always dirty with prickliy stuff in the sand which is not as refined and clean as the beach in negril. Ocho Rios town is way to small and nothing happens there - trust me - i know i use to live there and alomst went crazy since im a born kingstonian and that was a bad move.

For some who has been there many times, I would have to know what you like. For example if you want to spend your vacation doing things like hiking, adventure tours, and other things like that. I would suggest Ocho Rios. But, if you like a little more relaxing adventure, where they have awesome beaches and nightlife, Negril is the place for you. personally I like Negril.

Jamica hmmm. You will not do much outside your resort so just pick which one has more to offer on there grounds. Its nice in both areas.

Don't do it, go to Mexico, I found the Jamaican people pushy and rude. If you must go defiantly stay at a resort like Sandals and don't go to the little market places. I was looking at some jewelery at one and I didn't buy the bracelet and the woman grabbed my arm and tried to pull me back. When I got back to the hotel there was rotten fish slipped into my bag. Also they try to sell you drugs at the airport as soon as you get off the plane. I did not feel safe at all. Mexico is beautiful and the people are wonderful, great service.
