To be honest .... It really depends on the type of vacation and the type of traveler you are. If you like Luxury or a Moderate property where you have one restaurant to eat from for your whole stay... Bahamas is loaded with deals for the cheap traveler but if you are looking be spoiled, relax and pampered expect to pay upwards of $1000pp for airfare and 4nights to stay in a luxury property with many choices on property.

Here is a few middle of the road properties I recommend. They are good on the budget and still provide resort service:

RIU Paradise Island for an all inclusive yet close in budget.
If you live in Florida go on the Imperial Majesty ship it will take you over to the Bahamas for about $199 pp and less and give you food and entertainment on board ship. The hotel will provide transport or can arrange taxi service for you.

Holiday Inn Sunspree is another middle of the road all-inclusive property.

Comfort Suites Paradise Island, a hotel near Atlantis Paradise Island....you will have to add on meal plan option it is not standard but you will also have access to Atlantis

Altantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas is wonderful. It is pricey, but worth every penny.

I stayed at Sandals in the Bahamas a few years ago. It was really nice and relaxing. It is located in Nassau; therefore, it is close to pretty much everything. It is an all-inclusive resort. Check out their website for deals.

Given today's energy prices anything under $700.00 including ferry (ship not plane) from the mainline for 2 people would be a reasonable deal!

Cable Beach has a great all inclusive Breezes it's for adults only. Paradise Island has the Riu for families both price very well Contact me if you need prices at the link below

it depens on what your looking. there are different ratings on different hotels. and it depends on what island you go to. do you perfer boat or plane.

I just came back from my first trip to the Bahamas. Stayed at Breezes on Cable Beach, all inclusive resort. Very disappointing vacation. Resort is old and run down, pools are dirty, ocean is beautiful but beach area has trash thrown etc. Outside the resort and downtown Nassau were just as disappointing. Very poor communities, people soliciting you left and right to buy things etc.
Prices are very high outside the resort. The resort allows "outsiders" to have day passes into the resort so even though we were told it would be quiet and slow season, it was very busy, loud and filled with people taking advantage of the free alcohol. Tons more info to offer but not enough space! Head for the Atlantis in Paradise Island even if it means putting off the vacation to save alittle more money. It is gorgeous and worth every penny. You will be cheating yourself out of a nice vacation with Breezes on Cable Beach!!!!
