Puerto Plata or Punta Cana?

I personally like Puerto Plata....I tend to not visit the southern shore (where Punta Cana is located) because its mostly tourists. Most people who I know that are not Dominican visit Punta Cana, however, they never visit outside of the resort. Being Dominican and somewhat familiar with the northern shore, I think there's more to do in Puerto Plata...you can visit Sosua, Cabarete, Rio San Juan, Santiago, etc. More clubs, shopping, things to do. I went last year with a group of friends and stayed in Puerto Plata for a week...we had a blast...I'll be there again for Christmas/ New Years this year, however, I'll be staying at my house in Santiago, not at a resort.

Punta Cana for sure!!
I have been to both areas for years and Punta Cana is more luxurious hotels whereas puerto plata is more dingy

Punta Cana. Have been to Puerto Plata and it wasn't all that great. Everyone I know thats been to Punta Cana says its nice and very relaxing, with beautiful beaches.

I have been to both and they both are beautiful and a lot of fun. I would have to say, I like Punta Cana better.

PUNTA CANA 100% do you want crystalline aqua water or dark blue salty water? If you prefer the former then Punta Cana all the way!

Beaches of Punta Cana are 10 times bigger than in Puerto Plata (30 miles without interruption). Punta Cana is on the Caribbean sea and has white sandy beaches and turquoise blue water, Puerto Plata is on the Atlantic sea and has brown sandy beaches.
Punta Cana has many luxury resorts and wealthy tourits, where Puerto Plata is full of cheap "Johnny Sixpack tourists".
Punta Cana is much safer than Puerto Plata.

Puerto Plata, you can eat Delisious food, fish, hike, swim, get a tan, it just has the best people you can find, parties every night! The hotels, Fab-ou-los!! Seriously, Beutiful place.
