I presume you mean Puerto Rico in the Canaries? I have been there. There is (or was when I went) a big shopping complex with restaurants too. Most were there rather than dotted around the streets which I found unusual. It is very steep, built on the side of a hill. Fortunately our hotel was at the bottom. At the top of the hill is a place called The Barbacoa, that is worth a vist too with a bit of a fair, restaurants etc.
There is a nice enough beach and a couple of waterparks nearby. I can't remember the name of it now but the bigger park (further away) was brilliant and well worth a vist.
There is also a man made beach which is gorgeous but you may have to listen to a load of timeshare rubbish to be allowed on it. It may have been opened to the general public now. I am not sure.
Have a good hol :-D |

No not Puerto Rico in the canaries, Puerto Rico in the caribbean. That is why it was posted under caribbean travel.
Puerto Rico is great, its packed with so much to do & its only 100 miles x 35 miles so you can drive everywhere in a short time! You can go to Old San Juan & see El Morro Fort. Plus there is tons of shopping, restaruants, asinos, nightlife, etc all around. San Juan has beaches too, Isla Verde is pretty nice. In Hato Rey there is a huge mall called Plaza Las Americas. Condado has upscale shopping also. But Old San Juan has the most unique boutiques.
Outside San Juan you can go to El Yunque rain forest, the bio bay, Rio Camuy Caves, Arecibo Telescope, the Bacardi Factory. Ponce is a nice city in the south with alot to see also like Seralles Castle, Guanica dry forest & The old fire house. Rincon on the west has awsome surfing in the winter & beautiful sunsets. You can snorkel, jet ski, do any watersports, ride horses, bike, etc. Vieques & Culebra islands have the most gorgeous beaches. Also the food is delicious.
This video can show you better than I can tell you :)

Puerto Rico is in the Atlantic Ocean.
Water:
beaches, swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, boating, water skiing, ferry boat ride to San Juan or the Island of Vieques, phosphorescent bay, surfing
Sight Seeing: largest radio telescope in the world, caves, Indian ceremonial grounds, rain forest. Plazas: every town has a plaza in its center with a church, surrounded by grass, walkways, benches and beautiful trees. Hiking, camping, bicycling, motor bike, museums, art galleries, theatrical productions (plays), symphony concerts (classical music), check out other cultural events.
Tours: coffee, sugar cane, and pineapple plantation tours, Old San Juan (capital), San Cristobal Fort Tour, Rum Bacardi Tour
Fiestas Patronales/Patron Saint festivities (mardi-gras): every town celebrates a patron saint with life music, food, dancing and shows. The streets are closed to traffic and people gather to party.
You can always play golf by the ocean or perhaps go horse-back riding, or wear an evening gown (dress code) and visit a casino.
When you lay eyes on old San Juan you will be transported to another time and place. The streets are bluish grey cobblestones, polished by time, sun and the rain; they are as polished as the most beautiful gems! The structures are Spanish Colonial, and painted in beautiful bright yellows and reds, and ocean blues. The sky is blue and the white clouds conjure fantasies you never dreamed of before. Go to "La Mallorquina", probably the oldest bakery in the entire island, take a bite of any of their delicious and famous treats; you'll never have Dunkin's again.
Have a cool and refreshing tamarindo or piña piragua (shaved-ice) from a street vendor while you are shopping for your souvenirs.
They are licensed by the same instringent U.S. Health Deparment safety rules, so it's safe to try their goodies.
Shopping in P.R. is rather expensive since many of the items there are imported. But if you insist in shopping, bring extra U.S.$, it's the only currency used there. A dollar is worth a dollar, just like in the U.S. If you are looking for special gifts , shop in old San Juan, you'll find exclusive and beautiful items there. |

Both. Many places to visit and many places to shop. Too many to list. If you go to one of the good restaurants and eat too much by accident, you can go to Plaza Las Americas, and walk around untill you loos the weight. And they have great stores too.
I like the Rio Camuy Cave Park, to take pictures to folks back home. And also go to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. They have a nice shop an restaurant too. An for snacks I go to the Krispy Kremes, next to the Wal-Mart Supercenter in Caguas. |
