Puerto Rico vs Dominican Republic. Which is best place to relax and play?

Looking for the perfect destination to celebrate my 30th birthday. Want to go to place where the me and the girls can party, relax, eat, explore and just have a good time. My travel time will be in late June. Seeking recommendations on what is best city to visit, where to stay, etc.

Puerto Rico. No passpoert- it is US territory. I will give you some links. Besides I used to work for US airways & D.R. airports are not good- P.R. San Juan airport is good & easy to deal w/- friendly people. In puerto Rico you can visit old San Juan & see the Morro (fort) which is amazingly beautiful & there is a rainforest 'El Yunque'. & the beaches have been altered to have a area that is kind of closes in so kids can play w/ less waves. $$ is US currency & many people speak english. There are the Camuy caves & the Arecibo lighthouse w/ a big pirate park for kids. I also recoomend the Embassy Suites Dorado. It is about $200 a night & only 30 minutes from San Juan. Excelent. Also check out orbitz for good flight deals. Click flexible dates.

Read up on both, depending on what you want to do. Puerto Rico is more expensive, but there is a lot more freedom to do exactly what you want to do: party, relax, eat, explore and have a good time. No drinking curfew, pubs and bars close at 5:00 am, nightlife that never ends, lots of great places to stay and visit, beautiful beaches. You'll definetely have an amazing time there with your friends. Most Puertorricans know English too, and are fluent, so there won't be a language barrier. Not all Dominicans know English.
The Dominican Republic is less expensive, and they have a lot of all-inclusive specials that are great, but you're better off staying at the resort during your stay-it's a whole other world once you step out into the "real" Dominican Republic-it can be downright dangerous there. I haven't been there personally, but know a lot of people who have and I haven't heard any complaints yet (other than lost or stolen luggage, but that will happen anywhere). It's great if you want to go all-out on a budget. But in Puerto Rico you have a whole island to explore, vs. just a resort in the Dominican Republic.
Check out the link I posted below to Que Pasa-it has great places to stay and visit in PR, along with the best places to eat at, events that are going on, etc. Que Pasa is a publication for tourists, but it's good enough that even the locals use it! :)

We've been travelling the Caribbean for twenty years. Never risked the summer travel due to it's Hurricane season. We've found a place we realy like in the Dominican Republic. Been there 4 times & are seriously considering returning in Dec. '07
We've stayed on the north, east, & south coast. Our favorite is Iberostar Bavero Beach - Punta Cana [*****All inclusive]. Caters to all age groups. $$$**

An excellent web site to find all about the accommodations

This is a no-brainer... Without a doubt in my mind, the Dominican Republic. If you really want to escape from it all, beaches are nicer, night life much more safer then Americanized Puerto Rico, a totally different atmosphere, people are very humble, things are much cheaper... u get more for the buck. much more tourist options, country leader in telecommunications in its area, just very awesome! If you wanna feel just like in another state go to Puerto Rico... it'll be like spending like if you were in Miami but without the amenities.. if you want a totally awesome experience visit the DR!!!!! u won't regret it...

aaaaa
puerto rico it's nice !!!

i wish you a ncie time in there !

but.. both are nice !

i would choose puerto rico !

bye

Since the U.S. took over Puerto Rico has changed too much. If you want girls go to the Dominican Republic.

Mina
Definitely Dominican Republic; gret all-inclusives and activities to keep you girls busy.
For specific recommendations and great prices to go along with it, contact me at vacationplanning@gmail.com
