Many people think that Rastas worship Selassie as God. That is not true. Selassie went to the Caribbean and built churches there. He was like a missionary/general/king to the people and he believes in God so we know that he did not claim to be God. He showed the people of the Islands how to pray and worship Jesus Christ the way Christian Africans Fellowship. Just because you see A person wearing dreds and dressing afro-centric does not mean they are Rasta. There are groups that wear dreds and they believe in a Messiah other than Christ.

Makes sense to me in many ways. If I had to claim a religion...it would be Rasta. I also really identify with the social/political aspects as well.

"Mookie" you should not try to talk about something you know nothing about.

Barbados Chick
There are very many Rastafarians in Barbados and I have great respect for their hard work and work ethics.
They farm the land and tend animals where others will not.
In the work place, they provide good work and are very trustworthy.
Most are also very freindly and helpful to anyone, regardless their colour or race.

I practice certain rastafari rituals myself =)<//////>~~
thankyou Jah!

I have worked with Rastafari in Trenchtown, in Kingston. I have been in Bob Marley's "yard."
I believe that Rastafari are truly peaceful.

By the way: did you know that there are at least 3 major denominations within the Rastafarian movement?

respect.

Rarely see Rastas nowadays. Used to in the 70s and 80s though. Where have they all gone?

First of all I'm Jamaican. Rastas are among the most confused set on people on this planet. They say there is no race yet they say that white people try to trick them. Confused, confused.

Mookie you don't know what you are talking about, you are just imagine, are coating some stuff that you have read.

Much respect for their love of people and life.

My only reservation is the role of women to some Rasta men. I dated a Rasta many years ago who didn't even want me to wear pants in 20 degree weather because "ooh-Man shud not wear pants, gyal."

Very confussed folks. They worship an old Etheopian king named Halle Celeste. Who was actually descended from the same blood line as Jesus (Davidic) The thing is they get into this self worship kind of thing (Taking God out of the picture) The original concept of the dreds was to look like a lions mane. The symbolism here is that Jesus is called the "Lion ofJudah" So it is another attempt by a false religion to mimic Christianity. That is what the devil does best is mimic God, that is why in the last days one will who will proclaim himself to be Jesus but will be the anti-christ. You'll know the real Jesus when he comes!
