Does anyone who has recently visited Jamaica know if I can rent a beach house? And if so can you give me any information you may have...

I live in Jamaica and I would suggest that you stay in Montego Bay or Ocho Rios. There can be rentals of cottages and beach houses along the coast. Just check out the internet and choose what best suits you.

JustMe
everyones gonna tell you montego bay and ocho rios, if you are not jamaican you probably dont know anywhere outside of them

Check out www.treasurebeach.net
This is where we will be staying. You can rent houses and villas on the beach cheap. It is really laid back here and not alot of tourists.

i go to jamaica every december and love it(as you can tell by my name) yes you can rent beach house--just type in "beach house rentals in jamaica"in your browser and it brings them up. just make sure you go through a company to do it and try to get in negril, runaway bay or ocho rios as these are the safest places. there are also alot of resorts that are all inclusive to stay at that is relatively cheap,so maybe check them out also. have a great trip!

Ok, I'm a little surprised that someone from Jamaica would tell you to stay in Ocho or mo bay. From what I hear, anyone with a bad Jam experience has stayed in those two places. Anyone thats had a great time more than likely stayed in Negril. I've been to Negril a bunch of times and would NEVER, I repeat NEVER, stay in Mo Bay or Ocho.
As far as a beach house, just rent a nice hotel room. Thats another reason I like Negril so much. Small, quaint rooms on the beach go for around $40 a night. Or you can go all inclusive. Depends on what floats your boat. There are two nice places just outside of Negril too that are nicely secluded and are very nice. One is called Coral Cove, the other is Jake's place. They both offer bungalow style rooms right on the private beaches, at least CC does. And both are a short cab ride to Negril's beach.

negril is the place to look, forget mo bay or 8 rivers. don't get me wrong, they're nice, but negril is by far the best. look on the west coast, beautiful beaches and sunset.

MO
Check out the online Jamaican Gleaner newspaper...they list vacational rentals there. MoBay was OK, but I have to go with Negril for an extended stay.
