Should I go to Cuba for a holiday and why?

Go, if you are up for a very different experience! I went last year to visit extended family in Havana, and we travelled around a bit. Cuba is a beatiful place, but also a challenging place to visit. You could go all-inclusive to a resort, but then to be honest you will be living in a totally artificial world. It is much better to get out and meet people and stay in a casa particulare. Having said that, going solo in Cuba can be tough going! And that is basically because of the two currency system, which makes people desperate and is constantly a barrier to normal relations between tourists and locals. You will find the people that you get to know extremely welcoming and anxious to talk to you about their culture and political situation, but also you MAY find that to strangers you are just a walking ATM - with a currency they are desperate to have. Do a bit of research, and if you go there, go there with your eyes open. |

Yes~! I just came back from a 1 week all inclusive vacation and it was awesome. I went to Holguin... very nice place (more for people who want to be on a secluded beach, and there is pretty much no houses, or anything around the resorts, very nice to relax) if you want party and nightlife, check out Havana. The people are awesome. and I wish I could live on that beach. I stayed at the resort "Sol Rio de Luna Y Mares" best beach i have ever seen, and awesome people... would go there again in a heartbeat. |

Yes, definitely go to Cuba, I have been there before and loved it! its such a unique country, the people are welcoming, the country is beautiful with lots of historical remarks...the culture is great too. The beaches are beautiful, try Varadero. the clubs are nice with lots of salsa and Cuban rum and don't forget the Cuban cigars!! Never be afraid to go to Cuba, whether if you are going on your own or with tour! it is a safe country. Cuba has one of the lowest crime rates in the whole world. It will be great to experience a communist country, where everyone is highly educated and equal (No Americans). Money and luxury is not a big part of Cuban life, they are still happy without it : )) Enjoy your holiday. |
