Should I travel with a 5 month old to Punta Cana? |
My family and I are planning a trip to Punta Cana, my pediatrician told me it's fine because I will be breast feeding. On the other hand my family doctor says it's best not to go there, that I should go to Florida or Cuba instead. Can you give me your opinion on if I should go or if anyone has traveled with a 5 month old? |

I can only speak from my experience; I have personally travel with my two girls since their birth (I go every year with my 6 and 2 year old) to Punta Cana/Santo Domingo and had no problems with them getting sick, thanks God! However you will need to be careful as any mother would with the things your baby gets in his/her mouth and make sure you wash anything you give him/her with purified water instead of tap water. Bring mosquito repellant just in case you need it when you are there (depends on the season) but other than that you should be able to enjoy your stay at any resort in Punta Cana. Trust me, you won’t regret a bit! |

Why should Florida or even Cuba be better for the young one? Will be your breast feeding be better over there? Ok you see the non sens of it I hope. Just be care full for the temperature for the the young one, and enjoy it!

I have to laugh at the 'Florida or Cuba instead" comment. What's different?
It's hot and it's not home. Since the Pediatrician says ok...well, ok.
Pick a Family friendly resort..common sense says be careful of the sun.
Have a great time. |

I think it's great that you're going to Punta Cana and you shouldn't have any problems going with your kid. But really, if you want a vacation, leave him with someone or go when he is a little older. |

No, Punta Cana is a great place to go, but if you are going on a vacation you wouldn't enjoy so much if you had to carry you baby with you and take care of him, besides if he or she is so young could get sick easily in such a different weather (hot weather) |

I think is safe for your family and your baby go to Punta Cana. Punta Cana is a resort area, family friendly, there are some clinics available for tourists and some resorts has a doctor available. There is no reason for believe that your baby going to be get sick, just take precautions, such as carrying sunscreen for babies and mosquito repellent. Some hotels also have nannies available that can be contracted by hours or by days and maybe one time enjoy the nightlife.
I am mother of two, I went with my children and we enjoyed too much. |

I don't think it is a great idea... |

hale to the no! u can't control uncontrollable crying and if the baby gets sick like most around that age, it's best to be treated by your own pediatrician. if you are from, the USA, then your dr is smoking crack to tell you that cuba is the answer. they just had a nasty hurricane where a lot of people are displaced, etc...and it's not a smart idea to go to a country that the USA does not have dealings with. one slight smell of trouble and u r on your own. go to florida. the layover and customs is a MOFO in miami. unecessary stress on the baby. have fun in florida. |
