Though it might be good economically, Haiti was the first black republic and the ONLY black nation that managed to sucessfully overthrow a white regime. Its HIGHLY unlikely that any haitians would agree to rejoin france. Our bodies will die before our pride does.

Besides, If France ever tried to control haiti, you would probably get a situation similar to Iraq and the US, and we all know how well thats goin rite now. Haiti would be a liability for France. In fact, it was for that EXACT reason that france wouldnt help america in iraq, because they know what happens when you try to "help out" a country that largely doesnt want your interference. I guarantee 95% of haitians dont want to be part of france, and 95% of frenchmen dont want to have to worry about haiti. So sorry luv, but u gotta face tha facts, most frenchmen dont want haiti, its not good buisness sense nor social policy.

However, had haiti stayed a part of france from the beginning we probably would have alot more money. Other countries that didnt gain independence or gained it later, like Barbados, Aruba, Bermuda, ST Kitts, St Barts, Guadeloupe and Martinique have standards of living comparable to developed european countries.

A better solution would be to build vocational training centres, and then build factories and other manufacturing centres, as well as develop the tourism sector. Haiti doesnt need handouts, it needs jobs, and unless you gonna provide a man with a job to make an honest living his situation aint gonna improve atall.

My country, Haiti, was the first black country to become independent,, so the people would have to go over their pride to let it become part of another country again..
Yet I personally think France would maybe be able to help the country with all it's dictature problems!
Guadeloupe, Martinique and other French islands are going prettygood economically compared to some other islands..

The Haitians THREW THE FRENCH OUT when they declared independence... so even if Haiti wants to become a French colony again.. I seriously doubt the French would want them back... Countries have very LONG memories.

Even if France WANTED to take Haiti back, the EU would have a lot to say about it... and with all the financial difficulties that Haiti has.. I seriously doubt the EU would allow Haiti back into colony status with France.

Haiti was the first country in the New World to gain independence, so that's pretty special. Of course, it's all been downhill from there. I heard a couple of years ago that France owes Haiti a lot of money and that Haiti was going to go to court to try to get it back. Don't know how that worked out though.

If the Haitians could only see how well Guadeloupe and Martinique were doing as part of France, they would swallow their pride (and they are indeed a very patriotic bunch of people) and want to join. I happen to live very close to Haiti and we (and other neighbouring countries) have real problems with illegal immigrants from Haiti coming over in boats (sometimes drowning in the attempt) and then living on their wits. I have been to Haiti and witnessed the grinding poverty and feared that they had really gone beyond recall in economic terms unless they were recolonised. If they had a benevolent government organising them and sorting them out, they could recapture the prosperity of the past. I hadn't realised that France was proposing this, as that is the very scenario one dreamed about in order to rescue Haiti from its present plight. If only!......

hell no haiti should not be part of france because my country is an independent country if haiti wanted 2 be part of france it would have happened already so just drop it and stop asking

I've never given it much thought but if they voted to join the EU through France and was accepted by them, then let it be, I wouldn't care.

If they accept Haiti, then all other nations in Caribbean should go with UK, and become EU members. I don't think French, most importantly EU member states will NOT accept that.
