The cruise will give you a taste of each island, all the food you could eat, some forms of entertainment, and reliable touring info and excursions for the islands you visit, It can be relaxing on the days where the ship does not go into port, but the days in port are busy as you will only have between 9am - 5pm to see and do all the things you want in that particular port. Onboard you could actually get away with spending no money at all except on tipping your waiters, room stewards etc but if you want alcohol, spa treatments, or to gamble, or shopping then you will spend.

All inclusives gets a stay in only one place, once again all the food and drink, including alcohol sometimes at a different rate I believe, your entertainment will not be as varied and your interaction with other guests is abit more as there may not be as many people on a resort as on a ship that hold say 3000 people.so it may be more intimate, which some people like. You will have tour info to get out and around the islands and you will not have as tight scheduling as on a ship.

Whichever you choose, have fun, I wish I was you right now

42 days until my 4th cruise. I choose them so that I can visit a new group of islands every time. They are similar to all inclusive in that all food travel room and entertainment are included. Alcohol and excursions are not.

All inclusive resorts are pretty good. I mean as it says everything is included so all your meals, drinks at the bar, watersporting activities, roundtrip airport transfer and entertainment is included. The only extras you will pay for are like spa, tours off property, scuba diving(to get certified) and special wines you may want from the manager's wine list. If you got kids they have a Kids Kamp that will keep them all day with various activities but if you want private nanny services you pay. I think its a great package you really have nothing to worry about. There are also like at least 5 different restaurants(depending on the size of the property) for your dining options. There are also all inclusive for couples only so will not be disturbed by kids cuz you have to be like 16 to stay there.

A cruise is fun but if you really want to see the country and see the people and their way of life then an all exclusie resort is better. If this is your first time I would suggest 5 day exclusive resort.

I say the cruise is better because you get to experience a little bit of each island you visit.

Remember that all-inclusive resorts do not give you the "local" experience for the most part so you might as well go to a couple countries for the same money.

Take the cheaper one, either way is a good deal

listen me my lord zeen... come a jamaica mon..cause the cruise just a give you a glimpse a jamaica. you probably might all sea-sick. close your eyes and picture the tanned girls with huge buttocks oops and the luxury at the hotel, the music the culture every other island a jus an imitation to the real thing...you nuh want to see them. do not listen to idiots about no guards on beach.. because no body can't venture into the hotels unless you are a guest...

7 day cruise, but leave from Puerto Rico and you will get so see a lot of islands, or come to St Croix if all you want to do is mostly sit on a beach. Jamaica is a very unsafe place. The hotels are surrounded by guards and high chain link fences. You can hardly go outside the fences and they highly recommend you stay in. Particularly during the night. Yesterday evening, we went to Frederiksted in St Croix and went to Jazz on the beach. Then we went downtown Frederiksted to a bar, and had pizza. There were about 50 people in the bar and 500 people on the unfenced, unprotected beach. This would not happen in Jamaica. Last year 12 police were murdered in Jamaica. Hundreds of residence are killed each year. It is a violent place. It is kept quiet because they do not want to ruin their vacation business.

Tough queston because we don't know your personality. I have done both and love both. Jamaica beaches are the best. Do the all inclusive But if you are looking for cheap, don't do that then, you get what you pay for. Take the cruise instead.

I'd base this answer on how active you are. On a cruise, your days at sea will consist of pool, gym, and maybe a small jogging track on the ship's top deck. At the all-inclusive, you will have many more sport/activity options. It's been my experience, however, that your cruise excursions are better than what the all-inclusives offer for snorkeling, sailing, diving, etc. BUT, you are paying extra for them on a cruise. Also, how much partying do you do? Drinks are extra on a cruise, but not with most all-inclusives. As far as one person's answer regarding safety, check things out before you go. You can have problems anywhere!

The Cruises are always good fun!

If you decide to stay in one place for a week though, I wouldn't choose Jamaca, its become far too dangerous over the last few years with some resorts having armed guards on the beach!

Instead come and visit the Turks and Caicos islands! You'll have a great time and also be safe!

Caribbean cruse sounds good to me, have fun
