It depends. How close are you to your great aunt? If it will be your responsibility if she dies, then no, don't go to your Carribean cruise. If you weren't very close to her, then you probably can go, although your relatives might think that's insensitive of you.

Hopefully she doesn't die. Maybe you should take her along for your cruise.

you should take into consideration many things. were you close to your great aunt? if you can remember going to her house when you were little, spending lots of time with her, and you cherish many memories you have with her, perhaps you should cancel your cruise, and be there for her like she was there for you so many times.

if she already has lots of friends and family who are there to support her during this difficult time, i would step back and say to myself
"if she did die while i was gone, would i always look back on this for the rest of my life as a mistake?"

does a good answer come to mind?

does she know about your cruise? if you are close to her, and she already knows, i'd consider bringing up in a conversation that already included " 'i love you's' and 'is there anything i can do for you's' "
and bring up something like "i'm so worried about you. i was scheduled for a trip october 5th, but now i'm having second thoughts about taking it. i should be here with you, you need all the support you can get." if she acts upset or scared talk with her, your answer might be right in front of you.

maybe you should stay there not just for the sake of your great aunt, but for the sake of another family member you might be closer to, that this might be a difficult time for as well. take everything in stride. you can always reschedule your cruise, but being there for your family is never something to skip over.

That's a tough one. Would missing her funeral bother you or would you not enjoy your trip with her death so recent? Perhaps since it's about a month away, you should just postpone your trip anyway. Besides, October in the Caribbean there is potential for storms.

Yes, definitely. Have a nice trip, you're great aunt would want you to, unless you're in the will, in which case stick around and pay some respects. Otherwise you'll appear rude.
Good luck!

Take ur aunt along let her die on some carribean beach

That is a tough one & I really think that you're the only one that can make this decision.
When My great aunt was very sick a few yrs back, we thought about cancelling, we knew she was dying within a few days but she was insisting that we go & not worry b/c she'd still be there when we came back. She died the 2nd or 3rd day of my cruise. At 1st I felt terrible, thought I should've stayed home but then I realized that by going on the trip I was doing what she said to do & at that point realized I had to make that my best cruise ever, I had to honor my great aunt. My family actually waited to have the services (she was creamated) until after the trip. It was stressful/ hard to come home knowing I was going to a funeral but I'd recommend goin on the cruise anyway, I think that by being away I am able to remember the good times much more than just thinking about her death. If you go your family may give u a hard time (be prepared) but if your aunt is like mine she's NOT going to want to wreck your plans. Do what's best for YOURSELF
