Tropicales
Many people get this thought mixed up.
For US citizens (residents), TRAVEL to Cuba in itself is not illegal. What is illegal is the spending of money in Cuba with a licence from the OFAC, which is what will grant you the 'legal' travel privilege to go to Cuba and make transactions there. Thus the embargo situation.

But recently the restriction has been eased up on Cubans with families (of 3 generations now).

For Americans? No the eased restrictions only apply to Cuban Americans with family in Cuba.

The latest relaxation by the US government applies to those with family in Cuba - up to three generations.

PS whilst Tropicales is strictly correct about it being spending that is illegal, the OFAC view is that if you travel to Cuba, you must spend money doing so, unless you can prove otherwise.

It always has been legal. Lots of my friends go, and often.

Or, are you American? I have no idea about you guys. Canadians have been going there for years - great place! Welcoming people, and good prices.

It doesn't matter. The only ones with reason to travel to Cuba are those with family in the island

No reason for the million comunists that wish to go see fidel in poison, I mean in person, to go there

They can send their donatives to fidel

Not if you are a US citizen. Supposedly a US citizen can travel to Cuba by first going to another country [Canada, Mexico, etc]. I've read that the authorities don't stamp your passport, so it doesn't show that you've been to Cuba. However, you would need to use only cash, as charge cards might be accepted and would leave a record of having been there. I've also read that the authorities sometimes check the flight manifests of passengers coming from Cuba, so that's another possible problem.

You can always check the State Department website for info about travel to foreign countries.
