South AmericanTrinis ?

I know someone who's from Trinidad and she looks completely south american. really fair skin, curly hair, pointy nose, the works. she's really pretty. Also, she and others in her family have hispanic last names.

I know they consider themselves Trinis but do they identify with their hispanic side. Also, do people see them differently than like say indian, african, chinee Trinis?

Ah trini could come in any shape, colour, ethnicity, size. Thats just the diversity here. And most trinis...no matter what their race might be or what they look like...don't really bother themselves to much about way they decendents were from. As far as they concern...birthpaper and passport saying Trinidadian or Tobagonian. We will celebrate all festivals together. When we liming and drinking and eating we food...it doh have what race yuh looking like... is ah set a trini's having a good time together. Granted...each cultural group would have their special ways of doing things and even religions. But at the end of the day..we go to school together, work together and play together so we just become another trini to each other! I am mixed with Indian and Spanish..but look more Indian than anything else and I don't really identify with any of the cultures.

just a thought eh but um *cough *cough ........ask them !!!! exactly how are we to tell if people we have never met identify with their hispanic side and how they are viewed ???? Being Trini has nothing to do with ethnicity - its a way of life and an entire culture and i would like to think a certain openmindness so we dont just see ethnicity but a good old trini ......sorry this answer wasnt helpful but really what were you expecting ???

oh and Trinidad is not South American its Caribbean and at any rate you know a Trini when they open their mouth not by the way they look ...hell even a white person with an accent could become Trini if they live here long enough ......

not sure how you can pinpoint a south American look, to me it sounds like you described a caucasian. But like the others said Trinidad is very diverse. You could be black, chinese, spanish, indian, syrian, white, or whatever and still be a Trinidadian. Look at my family I have two Grandfathers from Grenada and both Great-grandmothers from Barbados one of them of caucasian decent some how made it to Trinidad.

switchfoot_ilj
Trinidad and Tobago is a very diverse place. I don't think I'll be able to tell how a south american should took(even they are diverse). A Trini is a Trini yes...

julien
ohhh geed oh ...well yes i understand wha yuh mean eh. Last time i pass tru Miami all de "hispanics" would give me the nod like i is one ah dem homie
But in Trini i is ah proper pothound .... and proud of it too, but daz how Trini is, we doh have one look. We too mix up and sweet to get any other label but TRINI

Crack
