No questions are dumb...the harbourside resort at Atlantis Located 250 yards from the resort, Marina Village includes international brand-name shops, Bahamian arts and crafts vendors and five places to dine. Guests also have signing privileges at the 30+ restaurants and bars of Atlantis, with complimentary shuttle service to Atlantis from early morning to late night.

No there are no Old Navys or Walmarts or any department stores (ie JC Penny, Dillards) and no Target. But there are brand stores like Gucci, Fendi, Versace and there are two malls, one of which, the Mall at Marathon, is better in some terms but compared to american malls you may thing its crappy but it has Guess, Tommy Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. If you go to the Bahamas dont go to buy stuff you can get back at home. The money is dollar for dollar with US money buy some native stuff, you'll be glad you did.

I dont know about other stores, but Old Navy only has locations in the US and Canada.

What does "arericanized" mean?

No they dont. They only sell bunch of tourist junk on the streets everywhere and the prices are all expensive.

Not to my knowledge. They just have fast food chains such as Subway, KFC, and McDonalds though. The Bahamas is such a large archipelago that it wouldn't be wise to have large stores such as Walmart or Old Navy there. Most Bahamians just fly to Florida for a weekend to purchase their clothes and other items.

Naw is it not a dumb question because like my grandma would say..." You will never no if you do not ask.". So to answer your question...I think "conair26" the responder says it all. So go and have fun in my native land.

MrZ
When I was there, albeit back in 1969, they had a Burger King. But that's it. But that's a long time ago.
