Trinidad is very much like some of the busier states in the US. There is alot of energy and movement. But people are friendly and generally respectful and, extremely proud of their country. Once you start a trini talking there is no stopping them.

Tobago, Trindad's sister isle is more relaxed and sedated, focus is on tourism and eco friendly envronments.

Both islands boast beautiful beaches. Tobago has a beautiful coral reef and daily glass bottom boat tours are available, you get the see the reef and visit the Nylon pool where you can take a dip and most times see some of the most beautiful Queen Angel Fish.

Both islands have reputable restaurants and hotels.

The island people love food and you can find almost every type of food here from Asia, India, Africa, US and Middle East.

For night life the western peninsuala and Port of Spain boast of some hot nightlife from the multi level Zen to the open air near shore experience of Tsunami and Cove.

Tobago has its spots to The Deep being one more frequented by visitors to the island.

Note however that Tobago becomes a party hot spot for The Great Race which happens in late summer.

Come have some fun, just remember as with any other place you visit, to keep your eyes and ears open like any other savvy traveller.

Lovely place is Port-of-Spain, just lovely....

You have the wonderful restaurant in the hotel that was Holiday inn. While having dinner your the seating area spins with a nice view of the Gulf-of-Paria and the inner city lights.

After dinner venture off to Aripita Ave, and relax at one of the outside bars while listening to soca/reggea/and pop music.. The atmosphere is just delightful and makes you forget the troubles while away from vacation....Now kick it and join the fanfare at 51 or Zen and dance till yuh sweat from head to toe..

Now get up and join the massives as we leave P.O.S for the beach. We are off to Maracus for a day of sun, water, bake and shark and a beastly cold Carib.

Have fun my friend, just go and have fun...

ELsie Dog's statements are inaccurate - but that is her opinion.

Trinidad is a great island to visit, the citizens for the most part are warm and friendly and there is so much to see and do that one can never become bored.

A rule of thumb as with any other place you may visit, is to practise good safe measures when out and about. The same old walk in groups, travel in licensed vehicles only, possibly a local you may know can accompany you on excursions around the country. Don't walk with large amounts of cash, etc

A map is always a good thing to have since the country may be small but the roads and highways can be confusing to some.

Trinidad twin island Tobago is also a great place to visit - you could kill two birds with one stone - visit the both islands, I'm sure you won't regret it!

T&T is not just a location, it is an experience!

One that is unpredictable, varied & spontaneous.

You will find a hybrid of cultures & races running throughout these 2 incredible Caribbean islands - 1 that is more urban (Trinidad) & the other is untouched (Tobago).

Together the 2 provide everything, you could ask for. From sun & sea to the greatest Carnival on earth.

Really & truly, words can NEVER do justice.

YOU WILL HAVE TO COME SEE FOR YOURSELF!!!

I have been to Trinidad for business trips and Tobago for a vacation. I am sorry to report that there are few places in the America's where crime is such a concern. Not petty crime, but physical violence. To my mind, it rivals Caracas for murders and Colombia for kidnapping. While I agree that the Trinidad people are, for the most part, lovely and friendly - much warmer and open than many on other Caribbean islands - the attractions of Trinidad are not worth today's risks and inconveniences. It is busy and poor. The poverty is marked by violence and drugs. To be sure, there is great culture: music, art, food, history and the natural settings outside POS are pretty and the birdwatching good but you risk being robbed by armed bandits everytime you go on a hike or out to dinner. Tobago, less urban and with prettier beaches, may be considered for a vacation but even there, the crime situation makes it hard for me to relax. Read articles on crime and horrifying machete attacks on children in the local TT papers before making your decision. www.guardian.co.tt or www.newsday.co.tt
