NO VISA and NO PASSPORT are required for travel to or from Puerto Rico and the US.
If you are a US citizen or legal permanent resident, all you need is a state issued ID.
Travelling to Puerto Rico from the US is just like travelling to another state. Any one that says you need a passport are incorrect.
Have a great trip here.

YOU DO NOT NEED A PASSPORT! I returned last night from Puerto Rico with my family. We live in California, and nothing but a valid I.D. (as always for flying) are required. It was a great trip, have fun! |

lol! The news is full of stories about the INS and the Passport issuing being behind which is needed for RETURN travel to the USA from PR, HI, and the USVI. Because they are overwhelmed by the demand, the date for mandatory passport issue has been pushed back for some months yet. Call around to some offical-dom and you'll get some real piece of mind along with some real facts. Y!A is really only opinions from ppl like myself. I doubt some DHS or customs guy, with a pistol, is going to readily accept that you were told contrary on here and just "let it go"! Unless you feel adventerous... |

I think you may need a passport, even though it is a US territory. They're getting really strict on a lot of those things now, so would be a good precaution. I would say contact your local travel agent or the airline though.. they would be able to tell you what their policies are regarding that. I know that when I went to Hawaii, I still had to sign something even though that was still within the states, so you never know. |

Even though it's true what many people have posted, Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory and you SHOULDN'T need a passport nor a visa, the government and airport security are getting very strict, so I advise you that you take your passport with you. |
