It looks like your life will be easier if you get a passport. Your local US Post Office branch will be able to advise you and submit for you. Get the process started right away so you don't need to pay the extra "hurry" fee.

It will also make your life easier if you get good travel insurance early. Dozens of things can go wrong and ruin a trip. Go to http://www.wavehelp.com/travel-medical/index.htm and read up on your options. You can buy on-line. TravelGuard International (click on the red phone booth) is the industry leader. If you buy your travel insurance within 2 weeks of making your first payment for the trip, you can get extra benefits for no extra cost.

Best wishes.

You need your password January 1,2007

You will need a passport after Dec 31st 2006. Until then a birth cert. copy w/ a raised seal and drivers license will be ok. Passports always make things go smoother though.

Depends on when you are going. Before 1/8/07, no passport needed. After that, yes.

The Intelligence Reform and Terrorism Prevention Act of 2004 requires that by January 1, 2008, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada have a passport or other secure, accepted document to enter or re-enter the United States.
January 8, 2007 - Requirement applied to all air and sea travel to or from Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda.

I think it's either a passport or birth certificate and photo ID. But check online or call the airline.

I just returned from Jamaica. You will not need a passport until January 1, 2007. Until then a Drivers license and Birth Certificate will do.
Have a great time in Jamaica, I wish I were still there.

lisa
yes you need a passport and depending where your comming from you might need a visa or tourist card

boy_jam_arch
No you don't if you are An American Citizen, a birth certificate and Government issued Picture ID

traveler
Still a birth certificate but if you are coming from the US you are much better off getting a passport. Not only will/is it necessary to get back into the US, but it makes getting through customs MUCH easier. Have been there several times with just my BC and got hasseled at customs everytime. Ever since I got my passport it has been a breeze.

R U a US Citizen?

All travelers between the U.S. and the Caribbean will be required to carry passports starting January 1, 2007, as mandated by the United States Department of Homeland Security. Under a new immigration law known as the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, all U.S. citizens and foreign nationals, whether traveling by air or sea, must provide a passport to enter or re-enter the U.S. from both vacation and business travel.

All travelers are encouraged to begin application processes for their passports as soon as possible to avoid expected delays towards the end of the year. Travelers should allow for at least eight weeks between the submission of their application and the receipt of their passport.

For questions regarding the new U.S. passport requirements,

please go to http://travel.state.gov/passport.
