Traveling to the Carribbean?

im trying to plan a vacation for me and my best friend for april of 09. ive been looking all over and different deals, and an all inclusive sounds like it would be beneficial. whats the best spot to go in the carribean that has shopping, suitable nightlife and that is not too expensive!

Cancun has excellent shopping, nightlife and restaurants. There are also many tours to go on and their prices are reasonable.
The DR is also a good place for all-inclusive resorts but it is not safe to leave the resort.
Jamaica Negril has much to offer for shopping, nightlife and restaurants. They have reasonable rate resorts on the beach and cliffs, Samsara, Legends, Merrills.
As far as not being safe during the evening, I beg to differ. I've been to Negril countless times and have walked the streets at night as a woman alone and there are many other tourist who do the same. I've never felt unsafe once.

Go to Saint Lucia. the US dollar is almost 3 times the (lucian) eastern caribbean currency. There's lot to do and it;s definitely not too expensive. You'll love it there.

You still get the best bang for your American buck in the Dominican Rep. Check out all inclusives. They include air fare and you really get your monies worth. You have a lot of them to choose from, pick one that's the best suited to your needs and tastes. The beaches are beautiful, there's plenty of shopping, and most resorts have casino's and/or Disco's on site.
Check out the sites below for a lot of listings.
Have a great trip!

I have been to most of the Caribbean and found that Cancun and the Bahamas rank up there for shopping and nightlife.

You have another group that is OK for nightlife because they are relatively safe, such as the Netherlands Antilles islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

Many of the others are great for all-inclusives, such as Dominican Republic and Jamaica, but are not safe at all at night. Some including St. Thomas are good for shopping but not for nightlife because of safety.

I have been all over the caribbean and I like Grand Cayman the best. However, thats a bit spendy. St. Martin is gorgeous as well and Its alot cheaper. The nightlife would just depend on where you are staying.

Highly Favoured
Barbados is one of the best place to visit. The night life is great and the shopping is not that bad since you will be doing so duty-free. If you are looking for an all-inclusive resort then you have to pay for everything up front whether or not you use them. You can not want an all-inclusive resort and still want one that is not too expensive. It is best to stay at a hotel, apartment or inn and buy food on the outside. It is far cheaper. If you still want an all-inclusive check out the sites below.

Go to Aruba, it is more expensive but it is the best island on the caribbean i promise you....
