Trini Christmas or Carnival which one is more important?

This aint hard for me at all.

Christmas win by far. Doh get meh wrong I like Carnival, but all that go through my mind is when the first day ah school in September mummy used to put on the Jackson five Christmas record and the Sal Sol ochestra.

At the end of October she bring out the lights to fix and looossh when the tree finally light is every day yeh changing bulbs.

Yes, December reach and school out in less than a week. I use to hide meh report card 'cause that go spoil meh holidays.

Around the 15th of Dec' we gone down south for a family day. They use to let we buy a toy that would be given to us on Christmas eve.

Christmas eve yuh gone to sleep early 'cause Santa coming (And yes up to dis day nobody, nobody cah tell me it aint have a Santa Clause). It feel nice when you wake up and roll and is gifts on yuh bed. Of course, it aint like how them children getting 100 toys each. I get one main toy. Mammy bake and Turkey for breakfast.

What is your choice?

If I'm from Tobago can I answer the question? :-)
I love Christmas hands down. I like the spirit of Carnival but I don't play mas or anything like that so for me it's more of just a holiday from school.
But Christmas was when you saw the whole family that you hadn't seen in ages and my mom would have us baking cake for days (cause you know everyone that pass by have to have a piece). Everyone just always seemed nicer at Christmas than any other time.
And of course the music...it's always sweeter.

This is like asking me to choose my son over my daughter. They are both different and i love them totally. I do not want to choose.

curious!
Christmas - its just the feeling yuh get and of course all the gifts you receive!

Carnival cyar touch it, it could come close but it will never take precedence

This is a tough question TS. I have no idea which one to chose!

Christmas and Carnival are special to me for different reasons.

Christmas growing up for me was a time for family and friends. The house was clean and full of good food. The memories were warm and very special.

Carnival was special too. I started playing mas when I was in primary school. I was in awe of the splendor of it all, even at that age. I still love this unique celebration of our culture.

Boy, why you ask this question to confuggle meh brain dis hour in de morning?

For me, Christmas will win every time. Christmas is about family, food and clean fun. I not much into the party ting, so carnival take the back burner. To tell de trut, TS boy, I ent see Carnival since 1982! Back then you had to lose yuh religion and get on wassie. I ent able wit de "jump and shake yuh waist" while yuh half naked!
