I've never seen one, and im most happy about that. People who has seen it describe them as a Little Man. They bestow wealth and "luck" upon their owners as long as the owner give them what they want.
its usually food..sweets like honey and fig etc. however the bigger the favour the more they have been known to ask for. Including blood - figure it out. and if you cannot give it what it wants, then they take back what they gave to you.
it is said that you cannot get rid of one once you acquire them, and you must pass it on to a member of your family before you die. (Wouldnt want one of them running around your neighbourhood, now would you?)
They have been known to live in holes in the ground, or some people build a little "shelter" above their front door for them.
but as i said, i dont know, i going by hearsay! |

not a male deer, no, a 'buck' is a a folklore creature, no one can actually tape or snap one as they are meant to be visible only to their owners, and are supposedly like a leprachaun type creature without the four leaf clover and green pointy hat, who once the owner obeys him and does whatever he wants, the buck bestows wealth and immense luck on the owner. apparently they sleep in bottles under the owners bed. |

Hmm...I know a few ppl well who claim to have seen a "buck". They always say the same thing. Small lil fellow. They apparantly originate from Suriname or Guyana and have the ability to bestow wealth and riches to its owner in return for other favours such as bananas and milk. Well I not to sure...but ah find this link
http://sapodilla.blogspot.com/2008/03/story-of-man-spirit.html
Maybe you could get more info while reading it. LOL...if funny too. Anyways...I does see Jumbie all the time. Most ah them does pretend to be politicians. And fuh some reason the majik is to make my money disappear. |

Julien dear do you mean "Charlotte Street" or is that road fictional as well! lol
My Grandfather always spoke about this creature! In reality, his mother was one and she was from Guyana. But he also said that people who owned these Honey loving creatures cannot show them to anyone else!
Although It was mentioned that a Buck was seen during the attempted Coup in 1990. A certain Fabric Store owner forgot to pick up his Buck and left him all alone. The passing public (panic citizens, looters, protective arms) saw the Buck through the showcase window!
Back then they shoulda had camera cell phones |
