Trinibagonians, has anyone heard there is an ongoing petition circulating to have a pan put on our flag?

Hell no!!!! Why we just can't be proud of who we are without trying to advertise something. We are the land of steelpan and calypso. Leave it at that. Be proud and respectfull of the flag. You don't see Brazil putting a football on their flag, or Saudi Arabia putting and Oil drum on their's.

Please leave well enough alone..

I actually like our flag as it is. Any additional items will destroy the beauty which is our TnT flag.

p.s. They not doing anything for the development of Pan in Tnt anyway, they not funding the PAN TRINBAGO Headquarter and the always have to be begging the Min. of Culture for monies promised..... just now, pan will be the national instrument of Sweden

I don't see what's the point of putting ah pan on the flag at all.
I mean... we say that the pan is our national instrument yet we let two americans (no offense people) but we let two Americans patent the dam thing!
No we playing oh so self righteous and patriotic and want to put it on the flag???

The first question should be Why do we want to put a steelpan on our flag, Ah mean, I love pan, I have a tattoo of pan on my arm, I play the pan, pan made me leave Trinidad and represent the country in various tours to the US and Japan, what about the big stage people, on that final night, feeling the excitement in the air, the suspense, the lights, Ah mean, Pan is my life, but everyone in Trinidad and Tobago doesn't love pan, some people can't stand the " noise" as they term it, so why now, maybe its because we invented it and make someone else want to take it, so we now want to advertise the pan, to show is we own?, come on people, wake up. No to the pan on the flag thing, that's crazy...........

Well said gentlemen - I actually like the flag just the way it is. To think that the pan was patented in a place other than T&T is so unfortunate. Plus, our country doesn't do much to push the pan as originating in T&T - don't think putting it on the flag will help.

Though the intentions may be good, I hope this petition doesn't make it. The kind of petition that needs to be going around is our people pledging to do more about the young people - pledge to be a big brother or big sister to the youth - they need more mentors...anyway..I going off topic..laterz

I think that it should stay the same. But the pan would put a cultural value for the flag. Since the pan was invented in Trinidad.

No I have not heard of any petition. I don't think it's a good idea because our red, white and black is satisfactory. Each colour has significance attached to it e.g. expression of our peoples etc.

I haven't heard about that at all, I think that it is too little to late. We have a responsibility to secure the pan as our creation and our national instrument, but we allow others to own a patent...

Nope... I think that would look really lame.

have seen the pins you are talking about though.... it is meant to tastefully link T&T to the pan. By all appearances it was designed to be won by pan sides touring various countries.

I haven't heard but if this is so, i have no problem with that and we better put it on ours fast before the japanese/chinese/ russian/dutch or whosoever put it on theirs.

if that s the case then why not put a woman giving a man a sweet wine while hes drinking a carib .people would think that pan and soca is all we good for when in reality we are the most resourceful country in the Caribbean not true ?
