Ocho Rios, James Bond Beach, windy bar, Blue River and Blue Hole for kajaking and hiking, Montego bay as best connecting point, good resorts but in Ocho rios are more unexpensive and better, Kingston town rasta paradise, must see, Bob Marley house, north coast beautiful nature hardly explored by tourisms, nice and hot, windy on afternoon, sea temperatures excellent above 87, south western coast nice for snorkeling and laying down under the palm tree, rent a bike the best thing to explore island, enjoy.

ok i'm from jamaica so time for some real advice.
first off don't worry about being shot or kidnapped, jamaica's crime rate is not as bad as it seems. plus u'll be tourist so i doubt it. if anything like any other country u might get ripped off (if u use U.S dollars)

ok place
if u want like beauty stuff, definetly try anywhere in St. Ann: Ocho Rios
if u want partying, try Negril or Montego Bay
Other good places are:
Dunns river, kingston, port royale, black river, rio grande... etc

before u start planning where to go figure out how much u are willing to spend.
a hotel in Negril will probably be more expensive than in kingston, because it's a bigger tourist attraction.
when u've made a budget try talking to a travel agent, or just figuring out what exactly it is u are looking for in a vacation or trip.
it really depends on u and where u want to go

but no matter where u go, u'll always have fun in jamaica

I've been to Jamaica and am going again at Christmas. I like Montego Bay. Nice beaches, lots to do. The Hip strip is fun if you get tired of hanging at the hotel.
Negril is beautiful. If you're a beach person this is the beach!
Dunn's River Falls is fun. There's so much to do, everywhere on the Island.
I wouldn't worry about the crime like others have mentioned. Use your smarts. Don't walk in dark areas at night etc. and you will be fine. I think you're safer there than many US cities.
Have fun

My recommendation would be: Dont Go.
Jamaica is dangerous, dirty, drug ridden - overall unsafe.
Pick some other safer place to go than Jamaica
