I just got back from there, and Punta Cana is beautiful!
You don't want to go to too many areas where there's not a lot of toursists if you have curly hair.
In the Dominican Republic, they see curly hair as "bad hair" and will stick combs, picks, etc. in your hair on the bus if you wear it curly.
Just a warning.
The top places to go would be Santo Domingo, Punta Cana, or Puerto Plata.
Puerto Plata has INSANE beaches and isn't as crowded as Punta Cana. |

Forget Punta Cana unless you are one of the herd. Stay on the North Coast where it is beautiful and green. The mountains are 5 minutes from the ocean and simply georgous.
You can start at Punta Rucia and then go to Luperon. From there Confresi, Sosua, Cabarete. Then Cabrera, La Entrada, Las Terenas, Las Galleras and Samanan.
You will never regret coming to the beautiful part of the country. |

we went to punta cana in middle of september 3 years ago it was really good, it was my first time abroad and loved it, would say that the dominican is very built up now and there are nicer islands to go to. one tip take some immodium with you.

I would definitely recommend you to visit Punta Cana.
Beaches are really beautiful, there are a lot of trips to choose from like jeep safari, horseback riding, scuba diving, short trips to the mall, and also trips to other cities, for example.
Have a great trip!!! |

Well. I am dominican so my answer might be biased, I do really think that when you compare The Domincan Republic to any other part of the caribbean, there is no place like D.R. Beautiful beaches, good food, wonderful weather, nice and courteous people, political stability and above all good exchange rate to extend your dollaes. |

I've been to Puerto Plata & Punta Cana.
We much preferred Punta Cana. Nicer beaches, and that's what we went for. The water is calmer & prettier than the north coast. |

Went to Playa Grande a few years ago, it was really good, the beach was beautiful but you could not swim in the sea very often because it was a bit rough (Atlantic side). The hotel was really good though, and the pool was fine. No idea what it is like now. |

There are so many places to visit in DR, so it depends on what you are looking for, if you want mountains you can go to Jarabacoa, or constanza, if looking for the beach, an nice and comfortable all inclusive hotels, punta cana is your best choice, if looking for the nicest beach ever, and all inclusive hotels are not so good, then Samana is your best choice. |
