Danielle,

Although there is a policy to provide wristbands to minors, there's hardly any staff to enforce it. I've seen tourist get wasted and some others (locals and foreigners) take advantage of them.

Be careful!

Cheers!

If you want her to, you can ask for an adult bracelet, or give her yours.

If you don't want her to, then just make it clear shes under 18 and you want her to get a child's bracelet.

If you are going to give her an adult bracelet and allow her to drink, just monitor it properly. My mom let me have a glass or two of beer or wine (no hard liquor) when I was a teen. It taught me how to drink appropriately. While other kids were stealing alcohol and passing out/getting alcohol poisoning, I was happy with my one drink, and never got sick.

Probably, if she wants to. There are kids on here every day asking questions about how they can get alcohol at resorts (search the questions). The drinking age is 18 legally but in reality it doesn't matter. At the resorts minors are given a different wristband, but sometimes the staff doesn't care or someone else will get a drink and give it to them. The alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks all look the same, so it's hard to tell.
I think you should talk with her and use the opportunity to teach her about responsible drinking. Chances are, she has done it and will continue to do it. By stepping in and addressing it now, and letter her do it but with moderation, you might be able to prevent some negative future drinking incidents or behaviors. Tell her she has a 2 alcoholic drink a day limit, or tell the folks at the bar to put very little alcohol in her drink.

You don't have to be a certain age to drink in Dominican. We're the most carefree people. I use to go to "18+" clubs in Dominican when i was like 13. I have been buying alcohol for as long as i can remember.

Are you asking so that you can protect her from being served?? as a good parent should. Or to encourage her to "live it up". while she can.

There's dangers in underage drinking.. from the body not being able to handle it... to the men who prey of young women who have had too much to drink.

As a parent it's your job to PROTECT your children. Not drug them .

Is sad that you as a mother are trying to be able to have alcohol accessible for your underage daughter.

Hi Danielle !,
Yes she will be able to have a drink without any problem. But I suppose this is not the purpose of the trip. Anyway you will enjoy the enormous variety of cocktails served at the hotel bars.
