Vacation Ideas...? |
My friend and I aren't sure where we're going yet (except that it's tropical) and we're not asking for a place to go but; does anyone have any ideas of what activities we could do on vacation that aren't beach/water related? we have plenty of those. |

If you are going tropical, more likely, you will be on an island. Islands have unique history that are fun - pirates, take overs, wars.
We went to Bermuda and went underground and saw awesome crystals, the clearest water I've ever seen, staligtites.
Get into the mainland and see how they live and experience their culture, food and arts. It's worth it. |

I have been to many places and have seen lots of exciting locations. The one that sticks in my mind is ALASKA! Go to Anchorage Alaska in June, July, and August. The wilderness is amazing! Mountains and wildlife is spectacular. Anchorage has a wide variety of night clubs for dancing and having a really good time. The streets are full of festivals, activities, and there is always some kind of performing arts available. The native Alaska Indian tribes offer many different historical places and stories to visit and listen to. And don't forget the great fishing, hiking, camping, water skiing, jet skiing, and lakes with beaches, wind surfing, rock climbing, 4 wheel driving and sand dunes for quad riding, and GOLD GOLD GOLD! The gold rush is still very alive and BOOMING! If you go you must visit Hatcher's Pass. It's a historical gold mining town from the 1st gold rush days. Also here are some of the other nice towns to visit: Seward, Homer, Hope, Fairbanks, Eagle River, Palmer and there are plenty more town to visit. They aren't hard to find because there is only 3 highways that connect all of the major cities. In August Palmer hosts the Alaskan State Fair and well you just need to experience it. I can't even start explaining all the wonders and activities within the State Fair. |

Hi! Ok I know u said u don't need places, but Puerto Rico has so many things to do. I am not sure about other islands but I can tell you what to do in PR that isn't beach related. San Juan is PR's biggest city so there is tons to do here. There is shopping, great restaraunts, casinos, historical attractions, festivals & the best nightlife in the caribbean. PR's drinking age is 18 & there are lots of clubs & bars around, especially in Old San Juan. Also Old San Juan is very nice to see. The city very old with cobblestone streets & spanish colonial homes painted in bright caribbean colors plus there is everything modern too. There are unique boutiques & artisan shops & small cafe's all around. PR also has the caribbeans largest mall called Plaza las americas. Then there is El Morro, a 500 year old fort overlooking the ocean- its a must see attraction. There are old cathedrals & the governors mansion & plenty of other sights. You can also take a ferry to catano & do the Bacardi Factory tour.
Then outside of San Juan you will find even more! 45 mins to the east you can go to El Yunque rain forest. You can drive through most of it & then hike the trails & swim in the waterfalls. Puerto Rico also has 3 bioluminescent bays which is absolutey amazing. These bays have water that glows in the dark when you touch it! You can take a boat ride or kayak through it. La Parguera in the South is the least bright but has a fun fair like atmosphere with lots of young people & food & music. Las Croabas Lagoon in Fajardo & Mosquito Bay in Vieques are the brightest & a spectacular sight! Also in the North is Arecibo telescope, the world's largest radio telescope that can be seen in movies contact & goldeneye. There is also Camuy Caves, the worlds 3rd largest underground cave system, this is a cool tour. Ponce is a cool city with lots of sights too. & Guanica dry forest is nearby with cactus. Rincon is a surf town but there is also whalewatching (winter) & horsebackriding (which can be anywhere). Enjoy! |
