Definitley have to check out St. John's beaches. They are some of the best in the world. Trunk Bay is amazing and has great snorkling. The only problem with Trunk is that its highly frequented by tourists and can get pretty crowded, especially when a cruise ship is in. That seems to be the first place they are taken. If you want something a little quieter, try Cinnamon Bay, its a little further down the road from Trunk and its my favorite place in the world. Just get on the ferry at Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas to St. John. I think its like $5 or $6. Then take a taxi from there.

AN ABSOLUTE MUST DO is booking a day trip on a boat to the British Islands. This probably costs about $100-$200 per person, if I remember right. It's entirely worth it. A good guide will show you some great stuff. You'll usually get to check out a couple different islands, snorkel and have lunch. Ask to see places like the Bathes in Virgin Gorda, a really cool rock formation to explore and swim around. Jost Van Dyke is a cool place too. It's just a small island town. Main street is basically a dirt road. If you go there, check out Foxy's bar, look for my business card in the ceiling. Theres another island I was taken to for lunch called Little Jost Van Dyke, to a restaurant called Sandy's. I love this place because it has the only honor bar I've ever seen. You get behind the bar and make your own drink however you wanna make it (all top shelf liquor). Then check the price and throw your money in the jar. The food was amazing, try the crab sandwich. Be sure to check out the t-shirts while you're waiting. You'll see what I mean.

I could go on forever about the things you'll see on these trips. They were literally some of the best days of my life. I recommend checking out the service linked below. The captain of the Pirate's Penny was really cool and personable and he taught us a lot and kept us entertained during some boring moments while we were just sailing through the water. Hopefully he's still there. Remember to take your passport with you, because you will have to check in with the British Customs. The captain should take care of this for you.

Definitely rent a villa on St. Thomas. Try McLaughlinanderson.com. Great selection. They are the ultimate in privacy. Most have their own pool. If going in summer be sure you get one with air conditioning. Once there visit Magen's Bay, the shopping district of Charlotte Amalie, and Red Hook. At Red Hook catch a ferry for a day in St. John. While on St. John snorkel in the National Underwater Park. You can rent the gear. Best buys - jewelry, watches and liquor.

Well you definitely have to go to Charolete Amalie and shop--wow that is amazing. Then you need to Parasail. Take a cruise around the island in a boat. Take the submarine ride. Take a fishing excursion. Go and try snuba.

I agree with what dedisa answered, however, since she/he hasn t been there since a child, alot has changed. St. Thomas is extremely dangerous, especially at night. St John has a very distressing increasing crime rate..against tourists..Previously, it was almost crime free..And forget about St Croix..even worse.. Its a pity because they truly were the American Paradise. A solution would be the British Virgin Islands..quite nearby. More islandy and quieter, but lovely beaches, hotels and restaurants..And one can take a 1 day trip to St Thomas for shopping..But the BVI are safe, and thats how I want to feel on a secluded beach. Check out the BVI tourist office for lists of hotels, restaurants, ferry skeds, etc.

If your ultimate destination is St. Johns then water sports in ANY of the beaches will be AWESOME. The island retains is small feel and has tons of secluded beaches where you may be the only one there!

Coral World is a large Aquarium attraction in St. Thomas, you can feed baby sharks and watch huge, graceful sea turtles being fed. BUT the best thing about St. Thomas is Coki Point Beach (IMHO) the water is sparkly and clear and the beach vibe is cool with plenty of spots to grab a beer and some local cuisine. It's also a no hassle area for tourists.

Enjoy St. Thomas & St. John

St John is my favorite spot anywhere. It is quiet, beautiful and has some of the best beaches anywhere. Most can be accessed from parking lots without needing to stay at a resort. Starting at the main town of Cruz Bay, a taxi can take you for around $4 per person all the way around the north west side of the island. Caneel Bay Resort has 7 beaches of its own and does allow day visitors. We stayed there a week and absolutely love it. Definitely go check out Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay for great beaches. While there, you can see the ruins of the old sugar plantations at Leinster Bay. When you are done, go eat at Rhumb Lines back in Cruz Bay for great food in a casual atmosphere.

If you want lots of shopping, nightlife and more attractions then St. Thomas is the place. This is where more people come and stay and you will find more things to do other than beach activities. There are still great beaches here too, but not the level of peace and tranquility that you'll find on St. John.

sk is right about everything.the first thing your told at the resort is not to go in any alleys when shopping i went shopping had a nice time but taxi rates are very high becareful and have fun .the desk can hook up your trips
