Depending on what you're looking for in a trip Puerto Rico has many different things to offer.
In San Juan the beaches are ok, the shopping is good and I love El Junqua (spelling) rain forest. The food is excellent and the Old San Juan area rich in history.
Now if my intentions are to hang out at the beach, windsurf, surf I would suggest Rincon where the beaches are gorgeous and the surf inticing. |

Its great!, I'm actually a little depressed because I'm Puertorican, and I'll probably have to leave to work in the states, nature-wise we're a paradise, but the economy is shrinking in this island, so it really makes me mad, the fact that we have such a beautiful place and the government isn't helping much. If it weren't for the Americans we'll probably be in the same situation of our close Dominican and Haitians brothers, very very poor. So, yeah we're stuck, economically and politically and we are on our way to loose our society to drugs, violence and dumb people. Its to bad. Those are the things people don't like to write about, and don't tell you when you get here, so its pretty easy to look at us as a picture perfect little island, but we're not. But we can't be pessimistic, Puertorricans have a keen ability to celebrate and party like crazies, so if you get here one day, you'll party like you never had before, drink, dance and enjoy the beautiful people and places. So in terms of Caribbean tourist attractions, we rule! By the way, if you get to PR don't get stuck in San Juan, I mean visit San Juan but San Juan is not all there is to PR, rent a car and travel around the island, taste the local food and get lost and visit our south-west coast bays and beaches, they'll take your breath away. |

I visited Puerto Rico twice. Loved it, but the immigration officers at the airport were a bit ridiculous. Are they Latinos pretending to be Americans or Americans pretending to be Latinos? I didn't even know what language I was suppose to speak to them. When I spoke Ingles, they would answer me in Spanish and when I spoke Español, they would suddenly only speak English. Needless to say I ended up in one of those glass rooms... |
