Want to go to Dominican Republic for Christmas. Which time of the year is good to buy cheap airline tickets?

Look to fly a day or two after Christmas. Prices go up to fly here when Dominicans travel during holidays.

When I use to travel back and forth I use to use frequent flyer miles to fly during those periods and buy them a year in advance as there were limited seating on FF Miles at those times.

Good trick was to return on the Friday after Easter. I go to the airport early and volunteer to be bumped. I would get bumped Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I would get a free night in a All Inclusive, round trip taxi, first class seats when I finally flew and a 400-500 dollar voucher each day.

The people at the airlines LOVED me because I actually planned NOT to fly and was happy as a kid in a candy store with all the free flying money. I did this three times a year at the peak travel times, aquired a lot of miles because miles from vouchers count. I use to come home and give the vouchers to friends to go to the hotels with their girlfriends so they were happy also:)

September, October and November are the best time, if u don't care about making stop it will cheaper,it is stressful to fly in x-mas to DR, but beautiful. I went this past x-mas and i paid 199.00 for one way 3 weeks before the date and 229.00 for the other way, I think that I did good. SUERTE!!!

Early spring, late winter. High season is Christmas time---many Dominicans return for the holidays. The best deals are now, but don't go during Easter week, everything shuts down to observe the holiday. Summer months are unbearably hot and humid.

Go during the summer months (June, July, August..)
I know that for Mexico, prices fall from where I live to 1000 a person (there and back) to 400 there and back.
Because it's the summer time, it gets REALLY hot in the tropical places.
Most people don't want to go there, so sales decline for the airline companies for these destinations. They lower their prices in hopes to capture more attention.
If you can take the heat, go during this time!
