most resorts in Jamaica are family friendly ,they have beaches resorts ,the sunset jamaica grand and sunset beach resort and spa has its own little water park, even the holiday inn sun spree is very family friendly .if your kids are a little older(preteen/teen) the riu resorts are lovely as well as grand bahia principe and the grand palladium resort and spa are larger but very safe places were they can feel a little more on their own and not confined to mom and dad most places also offer kids clubs as part of the package) check out bookit.com for some great deals

what a sad answer from the poster who said they would not go to Jamaica...taking your children to a third world country is a wonderful experience. Jamaica and the people there are wonderful. You dont get approached by people selling weed if you are with children.

without knowing a little more here its hard to answer...how old are your kids? i would suggest looking at Starfish, Rose Hall, RIU's, if your kids are 14 or older check out Breezes Runaway Bay. also Beaches but very expensive.

my wife and i just came back from Jamaica,we stayed,at Sailfish Trelawny. This is the 6th or 7th time there,.The only clothing you need is swim wear-shorts-tee shirts, the food is not the greatest , but not bad the beach is great the service is good. The kids should have agreat time

I would agree with everyone else, the Starfish is the best hotel for kids. Only thing is its in the middle of nothing...Ocho Rios an hour & Montego Bay the same.

me and my family (with 10 and 11 year old) went to Jamaica this year. it was a phenomenal experience. you won't regret it, it truely is amazing. we stayed at the Riu Montego Bay in Montego Bay. its one of the nicer resorts on the island, but now considering the economy, is at a very reasonable price. its an all inclusive resort, absolutely gorgeous and clean, there is a bunch of Rius throughout the world, i would 100 percent recommend it. The food is incredible, entertainment fun, never things to run out to do at the resort there is so much all day, including sports for the kids, free drinks for the parents ha, also while your in jamaica i would suggest going to Dunn's river falls, and if you are up for the expense going acorss from the dunn's river falls to dolphin cover and swimming with the dolphins (or sharks), it was great!
but that is just my opinion, hope you have an amazing time!

Well i am a Jamaican, the best places on the island for tourists is along the north coast. You may want to stay in Montego Bay or Negril, two very beautiful place and lots to do. There are many hotels in those two areas. if you go take a trip to ricks cafe also you will have fun. Good Luck!!!!!

Ignore that idiot who gave the first answer. He obviously has no clue what he's talking about. Yes i agree with everyone, Starfish hotel is awesome but as said before it's kinda by itself so you would pretty much be stuck at the hotel, though thats not such a bad thing, cause they have loads of stuff to do. FDR Pebbles is also a good one. Never been but it is one of the most popular family resorts with two locations in tourist areas. Here's there website: www.fdrholidays.com. Have a wonderful trip!

I went to Jamaica a while ago, we stayed at the Turtle Beach Towers in Ocho Rios. It's a short walk from the beach, just across a paved walkway. It is also short walk to the shopping centres. There is also a small restaurant on the hotel grounds that has daily specials, plus there is a pool that is only for the hotel guests. There is a small store on the hotel grounds in one of the towers that sells pop and snacks and other stuff.
Ocho Rios is a tour town, cruise ships dock about a 15 minute walk down the road from the hotel. So if you are going to buy stuff from the open air markets make sure that there are no ships at the dock or coming in that day. The people that work at the open air markets will come down up to 50% if there is no ships at the dock or coming in that day, but that depends if they think you are american or not. If you are Canadian just tell them. They also tell you the price in American dollars, but ask them the price in Jamaican.
Ocho Rios is also a good spot to go if you plan on site seeing. There are a few public gardens just up the mountain from the hotel, it's also a hour or so drive from the spot where they filmed the movie "The Blue Lagoon".
I think if you book the tour that takes you to that spot, you get a raft ride down the Rio Grande and you go to one of the public gardens that is just up the mountain from the hotel, I think you get to climb up the waterfall at the public garden.
Oh, if you want to go swimming in the ocean then wait until about 9 am or 10 am. There are fish that live on the coastline there that have spikes on thier backs, the spikes are poisonous. But there is a guy that goes around every morning and uses a spear to collect these fish so it is safe to go swimming.

The very LAST place I would take my children is to an island with all the drugs, crime and hot hormones running around the beaches that Jamaica has. There are decent islands to go to.
