Don't drink tap water while traveling. If you are stranded and broke and about to die from dehydration or illness, you could take a chance. Its not that much of a risk at ANY top hotel in Jamaica (since our tap water is fairly clean), but avoid it anyway.

AT BEST, tap water has 'local' chemicals, parasites and/or other pollutants in it to varying extents. It is very possible that, even when the water is fit for drinking you could be exposed to things your body simply isn't accustomed to.

Its also possible for huge purification plants to break down, and you may only be warned after the fact.

Why spoil your vacation for a few bottles of trusted water?

Almost definitely the water from the tap is fine. Jamaica is not like some countries that have bad drinking water. Please note the almost at the beginning of the answer. To be sure just drink bottled. You don't want to have one bad glass ruin your vacation.

sweet_oreo
yes tap water here in ja are safe to drink unless u have a immune system problem then u probably shouldnt since your body is not use to it....but the long and short is the tap water is safe

Drink it if u want to. i drink tap water ONLY but then again i live in Jamaica. If u r not sure, then drink bottled water.

Novaro T
Just to be sure if you are a tourist DO NOT drink water from the tap.It is much better to drink bottled water.

Secret
tap water is safe in general in jamaica
u can drink it

however if ur body is use to bottled water then the change might be disturbed in the tommy for day 1 & 2

Riu should have filtered water ask them about it. and if not there is bottled water around just ask (u may or may not have to purchase as some all inclusives do give u water expecially for excursions)

my suggetion is that on your way to the hotel stop at a gas station and pick up 1 bottle of cathrines peak spring water :)
