No.

Christopher Columbus working for Spain discovered us back in 1493 and Spain colonized the island a few years later with Juan Ponce de Leon. He had the natives Tainos slaved and later killer when they sublevated. Spain replaced the tainos with slaves from Africa. The spaniards and other europeans came to the island and mixed with the tainos and later with the african slaves and formed our people : Puertorricans.

The USA took PR from Spain after a war between them in 1898. After more than 100 years we should recognize our mix with american blood also.

the US has only been around for a few hundred years.

No it was own by Spain. But because Spain lost a war with The United States. Spain gave Puerto Rico to The United States,as for peace. Thats why Puerto Rico is part of The United states.

Of Course not. In 1898 americans come to Puerto Rico to get a war with Spaniards to stay with Puerto Rico and they said supposedly that they come to restore Puerto Rico and another things... but thats a bull of ****. In 1952 was officially "The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico" (Estado Libre Asociado), that was the number #600 law.

Take care, bye bye!
