Mrs Dub

We are planning our honeymoon and are having a hard time deciding between the Sandal Resorts..HELP?

We are looking for something that is definitely romantic, I am pretty sure all of them will be. We are very active, love the night life, we are looking for different and good eats, and are looking for good water sports and some horseback riding. I would like to experience some clear waters as well.... In Jamaica we were looking at Negril, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, the other resorts we were considering were St. Lucia and Antigua...Has anyone been to Sandals, or the islands...experiences, stories, and recommendations would be lovely and highly appreciated. Thank you!

I would say out of those that u named i would have to go with St.Lucia becausde it is nice and everything but the shopping isnt great at all.
Now if i had to choose for u i would say BARBADOS! =) In Barbados you have the clearest drinking water and sea water that you can want and yes you can engage in Horse back riding. There is a great night life over here the best u can hope for. Lovely dishes and good on the pocket. Water sports? YES...you can swim with the turtles and go snorkling and scubba diving among other things. We have wonderful hotels and they are good on the pocket as well..Come and enjoy.

Congrats on your Marriage...Good BLESS you both! =)

btw...when tourist come to Barbados they NEVER leave dissapointed.

I have been to all 3...My recommendation: St. Lucia! Antigua is also very nice but I liked the people in St. Lucia. More real. I spent 10 days in St. Lucia during one of their driest periods in 50 years. Since there are no fresh water sources other than rain on the island it made it very interesting. Water was turned on in the hotel for only about an hour a day and people were bathing in the pool!!! But it was still a lot of fun. Very beautiful island. Jamaica, as already stated, is overrated, dirty and not so much fun. Antigua is also very pretty but I still preferred St. Lucia.

Trust me, St Lucia is the place to be. There are 3 branches of Sandals there and when you pay to stay at one, you can spend time in all three and enjoy yourself. St Lucia.

Antigua's Sandals Grande Resort - Mediterranean Village is probably the best in the Caribbean. My fav anyway.

First, congrats! Second I will tell you to take each review with a grain of salt. I read reviews of places before I go all the time and for every 1 that you find is bad you will find 1 that says they loved it. And just by reading someone's reviews you don't know what their history is, etc. Perhaps they are used to only 5 star resorts and this one is a 4 star or perhaps its their first ever trip to the type of resort you are thinking of and their expectations are way out of range.

I went on my honeymoon to Sandals Halcyon in St Lucia and LOVED IT! The great thing is you pay at one and you can visit all three so even if its something at the others you wanted to do, you can hop on the van and go do it. After visiting the other 3 Sandals in St Lucia, I defintely liked Halcyon even more. Even the people were friendlier there. Also, when looking at the resorts make sure they are Adults only (assuming you are not taking any kids on the Honeymoon with you). There are some really niec hikes to take, horseback riding costs extra but was a nice trip along the beach and into a cove.

I have visited other islands but none of them at the Sandals. If you liek Scuba Diving, I would say that Curacau is must. Bahamas is okay but not great. Dominican Republic was fun.

If you ask me, Jamacia is overrated, dirty, and unsafe. Try St Lucia or Antigua first.

However, I know a lot of people who've been to Ocho Rios and Negril, and they had a good time.

I haven't been to St. Lucia or Antigua, but if you decide to go to Jamaica (a great choice, by the way,) I recommend Montego Bay Sandals.

While the resorts in Ocho Rios, Negril and Montego Bay are probably all very nice and equivalent, the airport is located in Montego Bay. Once you land, you will be at your resort within 20 minutes, so you can start to enjoy your vacation. If you have to ride the bus to Negril or Ocho Rios you still have a few hours of a nauseating, hot, scary bus ride ahead of you. The drivers in Jamaica are CRAZY, and the winding roads are only one lane, so they drive at each other at breakneck speed until one or the other finally pulls off onto the shoulder/edge of the mountain at the last moment. Riding buses in Jamaica is not for the faint of heart!

But seriously, you will have much less travel time and just as nice a vacation if your resort is in the same town as the airport.

Have fun!
