Hi Chris,
Normal temperature is around 80F, but sometimes you can have a short period of rain ( 10 to 20 min) so nothing to spoil your vacations!

I just came back. It was hot, not too humid. Some storms were seen in the distance, some came by and went away quickly.
My wife's friend said that the hurricane seasons was to start. But , I don't know. I do know, I'm going back!!!

Hot hot hot, any rain at this time of year is normally over with in 30 to 45 minutes. Officially your in the hurricane season but don't worry about it the main threat for this region to experience storms is at the end of the season. Have fun!

The forcast for this time of year ALWAYS says rain. This is the rainy season. The last 2 years I have gone down at this time to Punta Can it was in the high 80's / low 90's. When we did get rain it rained really hard for a very short time but then stopped and the sun was back out right away. Have a great time! It is a beautiful place.

The odds are in your favor. The chart below shows the average temperature and rainfall by month for Dominican Republic. If anything, it's a good thing you are going in July than June or August if the averages hold up. The rain drops off quite a bit in July.

When we were there, it did rain a few times, pretty heavily. But it cleared up again fast. So cross your fingers and hope it will be a normal amount of rain.

In July, you should experience temperatures in the upper 80's (Farenheit) during the day. With lows in the upper 60's-lower 70's(Farenheit). Don't worry to much about rain. In Punta Caña at that time showers do occur. But they don't last long. The humidity is not too bad, as far as tropical weather goes. But if you're used to dry ,hot weather, you will notice it.

For any other questions you may have on the Dominican Republic, the source below is very good as a reference.

Hi the weather at the moment is in the mid 30s and getting hotter, somedays it is humid, the thunder and rain you have read means nothing, some days you might get a small shower, which you will be glad of. occasionally you might get a good downpoor, but neither will ruin your holiday, (enjoy it)
