Aruba is very clean and very safe..Probably safer than most of the other islands. Random crimes happen everywhere..Read the paper, turn on the news. When was the last time before this Holloway scandal did you ever hear about how dangerous Aruba is? Never..I have travelled to alot of the Caribbean Islands.. Aruba is nice if youre retired, it is very quiet, all hotels. A couple small clubs.. Nice clean Quiet windy beaches. It is desertlike and very small. Curacao will give you more caribbean flavor. Its more of an interesting experience, rather than watching senior citizens trying to win it big on the one arm bandits in the hotel casinos.. |

Aruba, I have been there and it was great. The island is very clean and safe (despite the Natalee Holloway tragedy)the island people are very friendly and accomodating seeing as they thrive on tourism. I would definatley go back. |

I'd say Curacao just because I've never been. I like Aruba and would definitely go again. I can't believe some people are saying they wouldn't just based on one incident. I suppose there are never any kidnappings in any of the places that those persons live. Take Alabama...people can complain all they want about the young woman who was kidnapped, but their own statistics read as follows:
This ranked the state as having the 15th highest total Crime Index. For Violent Crime Alabama had a reported incident rate of 486.2 per 100,000 people. This ranked the state as having the 20th highest occurrence for Violent Crime among the states. For crimes against Property, the state had a reported incident rate of 4,059.7 per 100,000 people, which ranked as the state 15th highest. Also in the year 2000 Alabama had 7.4 Murders per 100,000 people, ranking the state as having the 6th highest rate for Murder. Alabama’s 33.3 reported Forced Rapes per 100,000 people, ranked the state 24th highest...
With that said, I don't see the people there complaining as much about their own state than they are of an island who rarely sees any violent crime. Aruba or Curacao would both be high on my list for vacations. |
