lauren s is right check tripadvisor.com they give reviews on all the hotels.
We have been to Cuba and the Dominican eight times,we are going to Punta Cana again on the 25th Sept, four weeks to go and can't wait!
We've been in August/September/October/February and had no problems at all,yes it rained but it's a heavy downpour for a short time and then the sun is back out and when it is really hot the rain is welcome even though it's warm rain.
We've stayed at some nice hotels but everyone has different ideas on what they want so you should do your own research,we were recommended one in Cuba and it was beautiful but nothing going on at night. The south coast is a lot nicer than the north but you are limited to your hotel really so if you like to be out and about it's not for you. |

We have stayed at the Riu Merengue twice now, and it was great. No trouble at all and you can use either of the other two hotels on the complex |

The Canoa Coral by Hilton has (3) All-Inclusive resorts on the island. We stayed at the resort in La Romana (the deal we got from Priceline was 8 days 7 nights, airfare included all inclusive for $642.00pp......had a great time....very clean, great food, etc. Unfortunately we could not find another deal like that. But as someone mentioned, it would be best to go sometime after late October to avoid hurricanes. |

I stayed in the Iberostar Costa Dorada in 2000, it was brand new then and really lovely. I went in June and it rained a bit, but only for about an hour and then it would clear up. If you go, go on the jungle safari, it's a great day out!!! |

If you're going to travel anywhere in DR, Punta Cana is the best place to go. It has some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen! Beautiful white sand, gorgeous crystal blue water and the food was very impressive. I went two years ago (first week of September) and it was one of the best vacations I have ever had.
For resorts, I stayed at the Caribe Club Princess and loved every second of it. The people were so nice and friendly, always doing activities by the pool, or on the beach. The entertainment was so good-there were different performances every night and the dances were amazing! The food was incredible, especially at the a-la-carte restaurants! The whole atmosphere was just simply great!
Another amazing resort is the Bahia Principe. Sheer elegance! My cousin stayed there (she's a travel agent) and she absolutely loved it. It is her #1 vacation spot every year!
Good luck in choosing! |

I stayed in the Embassy in Juan Dolio but that was 11 years ago dont know what its like now. I would be carefulin Sept for hurricanes. I went in August and we had torrential rain but 10 mins later the place would be dried up and you would be back out on your lounger it was amazing. I stayed in the south of the island |
