Don't decide before you get there. Just drive the beach strip and check out several places. That's what I did. Ended up in a nice little cottage sixty feet from the beach. One thing to watch out for, don't get a room near a bar or pool, or you will not get any sleep.

Have never stayed in Negril, only in Ochios Rios. but from what i have heard Sandals Negril is very nice, i have also heard that Negril is a party town, like Montego bay, so if thats what your looking for than your ok other wise if you going to relax, check out Ochios Rios. all so i think its an hour a way from Negril but Sandals has just opened a new resort called the whitehouse and i have its awesome it has a little party to it, but is all so big enough that you can be by your self. it is an all-inclusive so it might be a little more but seeing i have been to sandals i can say its worth it. all so check out Travelocity.com for reviews and pitcures of resorts in negril. all so check out sandals.com. and tripadvisor.com they have all kind of reviews.

I spent a week in May at the RIU Club Hotel in Negril. It is an "all inclusive" one year old, 5 Star Resort, which means that all food, all drinks (including alcohol), rooms, and entertainment are covered in one fee.
Each room has its own bar with Vodka, Rum, Brandy, and Gin on tap. Plus a refrigerator stocked daily with beers and sodas.
The food is excellent and presented beautifully. There are 5 restaurants on the property (don't forget, the food is free), and 5 bars. There is a Jerk Shack on the beach, as well as another bar.
The water is clean, the beach is clean, and the people are great!
We paid for a garden view room, but when we got there I asked politely if there was a chance of being upgraded, at not cost, to an ocean view room. Well, you know what they say in Jamaica right? Jamaica, no problem.
I can't wait to go back!!!

We had an amazing time at The Tensing Pen. Many people like The Rock House, which was sold out. We actually went over there and were glad we stayed where we did. It's out on a cliff and is nice and quiet. If you're looking for a party, you won't find it here. If you need transportation from the airport, there is no one better than Errol Flynn tours. Errol picked us up in a nice minivan with lots of cold beer waiting for us. He's an absolute pleasure!
He even offered us a free hour long Negril tour so we could do a little shopping in town. We took him up on it and he sent a driver who was just as nice. We got to do our shopping without renting a car. He took us to a friend of his who has his own seasoning company so we got the freshest jerk seasonings in town.

I only stay in Negril when I go to Jamaica. A nice place to stay at is Shield's Villas, it's right on the beach. It feels like it's your own house. The people are friendly and very nice. The Riu, is also a nice hotel that's also on the beach. It's more of a resort though. It is pricey. If you don't want to spend alot you can stay at the Cottontree Hotel. It's not on the beach but, it's just a 10 min walk away.
