What's the NICEST Caribbean Island to move to?

It depends how you define the word nice - does it mean, everythings has to be just like home or are you ready to settle for something new? It is very important that you find out for yourself what you are expecting from your new home country...
I moved to the north coast of the Dominican Republic ten years ago and have never regreted it. I still love the variety of nature like mountains, waterfalls, deserts, beaches... The people are friendly. Weather is great and the north coast of the island is very rarely struck by hurricanes because theyÂ´re either going to the south coast or are way further north.
I would recommend that you travel a couple of islands and ask a lot around, met with people who moved there and listen to their experience. Then, when you have decided where to move to, please, donÂ´t buy a real estate right away!!! Just rent an apartment or house and live there for a while just to make sure, that this is really what you want before you invest lots of money.

If you are considering the Caribbean as a new location on a permanent basis, then you want an Island OUTSIDE the hurricane belt, there are three that fit that criteria, they are the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, Dutch Caribbean. You can currently buy new homes on Villapark Villas, a new project there for about $90,000 US, visit http://www.moulin.nl for details, but I d definetly settle for Curacao or one of the other ABC Islands and you can hop across to Venezuela as well, its only 35 miles away!

Why do you want to move to the Caribbean? People look for lots of different things when they decided to huck everything and move to the beach. The important thing to remember is it's just just geography - you still have to hold down a job, pay your bills and eat. If you are an American citizen, the US Virgin Islands or Puerto Rico are great because you won't need a visa or work permit.

- I'd move to Grand Cayman! Nicest people - English Province so they are UK citizens and clean & crime free. Not like Jamaica where they are selling weed on the street corners & pick-pocketing you at the same time. The island is expensive and many celibrities have homes & condos there.

Barbados. Very Caribbean, but still everything is available there as in the US and UK
