What's the best way to get to Ocho Rios from Montego Bay Airport in Jamaica?

Flying into Montego Bay for a bachelor party this weekend and then have to meet up with my friends at an Ocho Rios resort for the weekend. What the best/economical/safe way to get there from the airport? It's about 61 miles.

Michelle S's answer is the best. Taxis aren't safe.

Jamaica is not the safest place to hire a taxi, I am from Kingston and trust me I don't normally hire a taxi. The airport endorses a transport system called Juta. The airport in Mo bay should have Juta's available. Just hire one and you are sure to reach your destination. Mo bay airport is North of Ochi so you will have to travel a distance, but, with the new highway system in Jamaica you are sure to cut travel time down significantly.

Total drive distance about 68 miles- 1 hrs drive
If a native Jamaican driving****about 48 miles or less...

want a real thrill?rent a car and drive............Mo Bay To Ochi 2 hrs at best be ready for the drive of your life.If Jammi Police have a road block, don't stop they are the Carribs answer to the Federalies in mexico, they will shoot so drive fast and wreckless like the cabbies.Have fun its a great place to visit.

by coach... taxis too long and if ur a visitor/ not familiar, they may over charge you

but i warn you... book your coach in advance!

Route taxis are way cheaper but you have to be traveling light. Take a route taxi from airport to Ocho Rios. Once in Ocho Rios then take another taxi to your hotel.

Get a taxi.
It will cost you a fair bit of money, but it will be worth it as it's fun and you feel like you're travelling with the locals.
Also it's hard to find out bus timetables on the net for places like that, so your best bet would be a taxi.
I did Montego Bay to Negril which was 80 miles by taxi and loved every minute. :)

Best to take a bus. There are plenty, but get a "transfer" online from one of the companies that operate there...most have websites like http://www.tourwiseltd.com/

Typical charge for one person, one way to Ocho Rios is $30. Watch the taxi drivers outside the airport, they will try to get $100 or more...and some are not LEGIT ! Look for the red licence plate & agree on a price BEFORE you ever get in their car.
