What's the difference between the American Dollar and the Jamaican Dollar?

I know it's 1 American dollar = 72 Jamaican dollars, but how much can you buy with one Jamaican dollar? A hamburger or a piece of dirt?

I dont even think it can buy one icy mint.
1 American dollar is almost $90 Jamaican dollar.

Put it this way, Guyana have it a lot worse than Jamaica.

Purely Jamaica
Actually, its $1US : $87JA. (currency xchange site)

You can't buy anything for a Jamaican dollar--not even the dirt....lol

Say you want a rum drink in Jamaica. Its going to cost you about 150J. Or, about $1.75US. Just like inflation in America, the rules apply there. I'm sure you get the idea....

screwball
it cost more to buy US with jamaican dollars

The Jamaican dollar is no much different from other countries of a small island with not much resources like the USA. Jamaica does not surrounds the Jamaican dollar.

You are very insulting in the last phrase you write. I should tell you, yes we have naturistic dirt, but where you are I can bet is a concrete jungle without the nature of all kind of dirt that makes your cups and plates. If you are speaking hamburger, although our dollar is not enough to buy one, our hamburger, BK and KFC although origin is from America, we have the best tasting ones. No quick grown chicken from chicken tablets or bulls which are not the ordinary cattle.

Soon our dollar will worth much, as now America is under recession.

Please do not use Yahoo Answers to degrade the Jamaican Dollar, it makes us strong having world athletes like Usane Bolt, best foods and best beaches and 5 star hotels rated world wide.

The Jamaican dollar is much lower than the US dollar.

All I can tell you is when my cousin and her husband honeymooned in Jamaica about 10 years ago a Coke was a little over 100 Jamaican dollars. I imagine the price has gone up since then...

cutencuddly11
well, one jamaican dollar is like a penny, so practically you cant buy nothing with it.

DA-TRUTH
The difference is the American Dollar is loosing its value

Roshaad
A Jamaican dollar is much more colourful than the American dollar, and is about 1/88 of the American dollar.
