Hello Dear
There are several daily flights Between Miami and Cuba
& Bi monthly Flights from New York to Havana
but unless Youre a Cuban-American on a family visit,A diplomat,A student going to study abroad in Cuba,a News Paper reporter you are not allowed to Take these flights..so youre stuck traveling via a 3rd country like Canada or Mexico.
If Youre Traveling from the West Coast of the USA I would suggest you travel Via Vancouver which has direct flights to Varadero,Cuba(1.5hour Taxi or Bus ride from Havana)
You can also fly from the West Coast or East Coast to Cancun
and take one of the 3 daily flights from there
with Mexicana airlines or Cubana

You can also fly via Toronto or Montreal Canada
Air Canada and Cubana airlines offer direct flights to Havana from both cities several times a week.

You can't fly from the U.S. unfortunately due to the embargo. You're correct that you can fly from Cancun. You can also fly from the Bahamas, and Canada as you mentioned.

I'm also from Canada but from T.O. Many who were on my flights to Cuba were also from BC. Basically they took a flight from BC to Toronto as the connecting flight to Cuba. Why would you want to fly to Miami or LA? Flights from the US to Cuba require travel licences for most...and that is whether you are a US citizen or not...it pertains to those taking up residence in the States...so it won't be the easiest way to go.

Just take a connecting flight from BC to Toronto, then to Cuba. Many from Montreal have done the connecting flights to Toronto too.

So just choose which city you'd want as your connecting flight...Montreal or Toronto...they're closer to Cuba (3.5 to 4 hrs flight...depending from which departure city).

You do not qualify to fly to Cuba from a US point of origin.

You will have to fly from a non US point of departure.

Just because you are one of us (canadian) you are still bound by US law.

The best thing to do is to travel from Canada to Cuba, less hassle.
