The area is great, just stay away from those all-inclusive places. They are usually full of cheap-package tourists, and offer that kind of service. |

We did afew tours there with our kids who were 18 & 19 at the time
The catamaran to Sosua was fun. We went snorkeling, danced to the steel drums, and had an open bar. Ended the day with a water fight with another catamaran. All in all a great day.
The other one we really enjoyed was the 4x4 safari truck. It takes you off the beaten track abit. Had lunch at a beautiful beach where the kids boogy boarded. Another good day.
There's lots of other tours too. I'm sure they'd all be fun

National amber museum, and the old spanish fort on the seashore. Cable car up the mountian is great if the power don't go off. |

El Malecon, La Fortaleza, it is the oldest fort in the new world. La catedral. It is the oldest in america too. El Faro de Colon. It is a homage to Columbus. Los tres ojos, the three eyes, there are three bodies of water that no one knows where they come from legend has it indians did something . it is beautiful and scary. gorgeous. Boca chica. I could go on all day. I love it there. |

Mt Isabella de Torres is certainly worth a look. Also the nearby towns of Sosua & Cabarette. Santiago is a bit over an hrs bus ride away and is completely free of any tourists, as well as Jarabacoa, Mocha & La Vega. Have fun! |
