What are the funnest things to do in the Cayman Islands?

There's a lot of great things to do down here in the Cayman Islands. Just depends what your interest is. I live on Grand Cayman which is the largest of the three islands. Be prepared for plenty of sunshine as the temp will be in the mid-eighties to low nineties with high humidity. If you like beaches, we have one of the most beautiful beaches in the world-7 Mile Beach. This is where the majority of Hotels and condos are located. You can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, parasailing, jet skiing and many other water sports. You can be a bit more adventurous and go scuba diving-you can actually do courses to become certified on your trip. Half day or full day boat trips are great. They will take you out into the North Sound where you can snorkle and also visit Sting Ray City. This is a neat place where you can swim with the rays and also feed them. Sting Ray City is a sand bar out in the sound. Some parts are only waist deep. That's a really neat experience.

The island is very small. You can drive from one end of the island to the other in about 40 mins. If you like sight seeing I would suggest you spend a day or two to explore as there is much to see and do. In West Bay you will find the Turtle Farm which is the largest turtle farm in the world. It has recently reopened in a new facility and is top notch. You can view and feed the turtles and even hold them. They have a fabulous pool which just opened 2 weeks ago and a peditor tank which will have sharks. The preditor tank is due to open sometime in August. Not sure if it will be open when you come.

In the capital-George Town there is great duty free shopping. There is also a museum and an art gallery where local artists work is exhibited. As you travel to some of the other districts you will find the quiet charm of Cayman. Pedro St. James is a great stop for a bit of history. This is found as you travel eastward from George town-about a 15 min drive.

There is quite a bit of night life here-numerous restaurants, nightclubs and bars. Friday nights the clubs open till 3 am but be ready for an early night if you go out on Saturday. All clubs and bars are closed before midnight.

Anything underwater. Scuba would be my first choice, but the snorkeling there is great too. Last time I was there, we snorkeled near the edge of the Cayman Wall, and the drop off from the coral reef into nothing but blue was amazing (and a little scary!).

Go to the beach and do what you like to do at beaches, be it swim, scuba or snorkle, or even parasail or jet ski. GO TO 7-MILE BEACH.

Seven Mile Beach (SMB) is a long crescent of coral-sand beach on the western shore of Grand Cayman island. The beach is world renowned for its beauty, recently receiving the honor of "The Caribbean's Best Beach" from Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine. SMB is the most popular and in turn, the most developed area of Grand Cayman and is home to the majority of the island's luxury resorts and hotels. Despite the name, the beach is only about 5.5 miles long and falls victim to annual erosion, which has reduced its size in some areas. Like the rest of Grand Cayman, the development around SMB was severely damaged in Hurricane Ivan in September 2004 but many condominiums & hotels are now running at full or almost full capacity.

Seven Mile Beach is public property, and it is possible to walk the full length past many hotels and villas. There are restaurants open to the public at most of the resorts, and several public beach bars. Some small reefs are located just off shore which offer good snorkelling, most notably by the Marriott hotel (an artificial reef), the Governor's residence, and just north of the public beach. There are few restrictions on use of the beach. Alcohol and open grilling are allowed, and pets are free to roam the beach off leash. Loud music and public nudity are, however, strictly prohibited.

Directly to the south of Seven Mile Beach is George Town, the capital city of the Cayman Islands, while to the north is the town of West Bay, which features a turtle farm and the limestone formations of Hell.

I had the most fun visiting Sting Ray City. You can scuba or snorkel there and hand feed tame sting rays - they sort of vacuum the fish chunks right out of your hand. Awesome place to visit - They have a pirate festival in October, where pirates 'kidnap' the Governor and they put on a big sword fight show. If you scuba, they have the wall dives which are very deep, great visibility and warm water You will love it.
