You can actually do all three if you want.
Rent a car for the day, just know that traffic is crazy, and take driving time into consideration! Drive down to the Yunque, you really only need about an hour or two, walk down to the waterfall bathe in it a little bit realx and enjoy.
Then drive back on the way stop at the Luquillo Beach Kioskos, great food, YUM!
When you get to San Juan Drive up to El Morro area, there is a parking lot there, go and explore the Morro, for I think $7 fee you go in walk around, again dont need to take a whole lot of time.
After that, take the rest of the afternoon/night to walk around Old San Juan, there are beautiful churches, go to the Plazas, shops and you will get to see the Spanish House, Capitol building, all beautiful places.
Also just remember you will be hot and tired afterwards but it will be worth it. Need more ideas? Let me know. I usually go and do the whole island when I'm down there. |

If you wake up really early Saturday you can visit Old San Juan & el Morro in one day. You will need to rent a car though unless you have someone to drive you to el yunque. Its about 45 mins-1 hour from San Juan so it will take you 1.5-2 hrs roundtrip for driving.
You can either go to Old San Juan & el Morro in the morning & then head to el yunque in the afternoon. Just remember it closes at 6pm so you need to get there with enough time. Then you can go to Las Croabas bioluminescent lagoon & kayak in the glowing water at night if youd like.
Or you can go to el Yunque in the morning (& stop at luquillo or seven seas beach if youd like) & then head to Old San Juan in the afternoon. El Morro closes around dinnertime usually too so do that first & then walk Old San Juan. Then at night you can go to a nice restaurant/bar & have an authentic meal. |

San Juan is beautiful. The beaches are perfect and there is even a rainforest nearby..for that you would need a car. If you relatives are open to taking you on a tour, I'm sure if you can trust them they will make you queen for a day and you'll want to go back all the time! |

I was in San Juan for a day, we were on a cruise and docked there for a day. We decided to check out the forts, San Cristobal and El Morro both are in Old San Juan and are about 5 minutes from each other. you can actually see El Morro if your standing at Cristobal and vice versa. There is a free trolly that takes you to both and also stops all around town. Each port is a $3 entry fee or you can buy both for $5!!
San Cristobal is more military based, even has a dungeon
El Morro is more architectural. long, beautiful, lawn
I'd say each takes about 2 hours to walk through. |
