Yes you can carry back Rum and the like. You dont have to call anywhere. It can be bought at the duty free shops in the airports or any liquor store( where it would be taxed). But there is a limit of 2 litres per person. The miniature bottles make great gifts as well as rum cakes.

Critical Mass
you're not allowed to bring alcohol, unless you can sneak it past customs ;)

When my husband and I went to Jamaica in2005, we brought back all kinds of rum, coffee, jewelry and clothes. Anybody over there will tell you how much you can bring back to the states. Or you can buy your alcohol at the airport and they will box it up for you. As long as you claim it at customs you will be fine. Just don't try to bring back any illegal drugs, they do have drug dogs that will sniff it out, I did witness somebody trying to do that.

you can bring up to 2 liters back.

When you are buying your rum ask for free samples and they will let you try until you find the flavor that you want. :)

Each person can bring back 2 liters of rum. They box it for you if you buy it at the airport. DO NOT bring back any ganja. You WILL get into trouble. Anyhting under $500 a person you can bring back undeclared. After that amount you have to pay taxs on it. If you do go over, don't declare things like t-shirts and things they can't prove you bought while there.

You don't need to call anyone. Americans are allowed to bring back a limited amount of liquor. They can tell you what quantity in the store when you buy it.
