There are lots of animals, like birds, frogs, crabs, and snakes. There are also many plants and tress, inclucding edible fruit trees.
Tobago has the oldest forest reserve in the western hemisphere. It was established in the late 18th centuary. There are waterfalls, streams, and lots of wildlife.

Some links that might help you:
*forestry@tstt.net.tt -Forestry e-mail
*ema@ema.co.tt -Environmental Managment Authority e-mail
*http://ema.co.tt/ -The EMA's website.

You can find out alot of info on those sites, and e-mail the EMA if you have any questions.

-On this website, you can see some pictures of the rainforest.

Enjoy your visit!!! :)

Its full of snakes, wild animals and mosquitoes! Never been in the heart of it don't expect I will either.

Tobago Rainforrest I've driven through it and its a remarkably different aatmosphere - I didn't see no animals but lots of little waterfalls and streams and the air is cool and clean.

Trinidad has a forestry division maybe you can contact them or try the site below

Are you planning to stay IN the rain forest? Are you going to Trinidad especially for nature, wildlife etc. ? Or just visiting the country? Sorry this doesn't sound like an answer, but more info would help in giving appropriate tips, like, do you want to know about taking taxis or the culture or beaches, or just about the forested areas?

You might want to check out the Asa Wright Nature Reserve in Trinidad (so far most people seem to be talking more about Tobago) - you can stay here (good food) and it is a good base.

I could tell you about the Main Ridge in Tobago. it has been maintained as a natural forest reserve since 1776. i think it is the oldest in this part of the world.

people visit to see the wildlife, rivers and waterfalls. there are also many species of birds indigenous to Tobago that you can find there. it is a premier area for bird watching.

there are a lot of nature trails that you will have to get off the road to explore. there are many tour guides on the island that offer comprehensive tours into the rain forest.
